Meet Chi Nguyen-George | Accounting & Finance Writer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chi Nguyen-George and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chi, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve been working in accounting and finance for about 10 years. It’s very structured and analytical, so I realized I needed a creative outlet for myself.
It led me to explore writing, designing, and creating planners. I love combining the two worlds to create something structured, easy to use and yet beautiful.
After opening myself up with informational graphics on social media sharing my knowledge, my friends and family started reaching out to me to help them pass the CPA exam or finance questions.
I had so much to say, so I started writing articles and made templates to send them. Since then, I have released three planners that are available Amazon Prime and digital products on my website for people who looking for similar resources.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Organized CPA started as a creative outlet that unintentionally became a business. I was struggling with finding other mothers that successfully passed the CPA exams with work or school. I wanted to shared my experience to let women know they can do it and provide resources to help them along their journey.
During the transition into a business, I really struggled at first because there was so much information out there saying you have to run it a certain way. It almost became paralyzing and more of a chore. I took some time to reflect and realized it was my business and I didn’t have follow any of those rules.
Since it’s a creative outlet, I let my creativity guide me. Sometimes I have idea and want to make it reality, so I put most of my energy into creating the product like my planners. I really take the time to make it as detailed and easy to use as possible, so it could take me over a year before I create something I truly love and ready to release.
To keep my focus on my creativity, I try to batch my administrative work quarterly and automate it. I have an email funnel that sends weekly emails for a few months and it helps me bring in regular sales.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I loved staying at the Crawford Hotel at the Union Station for my anniversary. It was so unreal to be in a historic building that was a train station and go to the beautiful hotel upstairs. It was a nice area to walk around and explore Denver.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to give a shout out to my husband, Joseph George, that has helped me edit all my blog articles and supported my through out my business. My sisters, Laura Nguyen and Angelina Nguyen, for helping support as well. Of course, my kids who inspire me everyday.
