We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Murphy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chris, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was previously working for 4 years in another shop as a private contractor cutting hair. Although I was very busy and building a clientele, I felt as if I could grow more by opening my own shop and building a team of barbers that are like minded and wanting to grow as well. I decided to make the leap into opening my own shop and I never looked back. I just felt like I could do a good job at owning my own shop and providing a quality work environment for others to thrive.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I look at barbering as a form of art. Everyone that sits in our chair is our canvas and is a walking billboard of our artwork. We as Barbers have the ability to make people feel good and confident about the way they look. Along with a great haircut, Customer service is our number one goal at Altitude Barbershop. From the moment you walk in you feel welcomed and appreciated. We take our time to make sure you leave with a great service and look, making you want to come back. Barbering is about community and we have built a wonderful community in Broomfield and surrounding cities. The impact we have on people is a wonderful thing and we will continue to try and be a pillar in our community through Barbering and customer service.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I opened Altitude Barbershop with my brother Sean Murphy and my good friend Mike O’leary. Together we ran the shop for 5 years and I contribute a lot of Altitudes success to these two.
