Meet Chris Stake | Singer-Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Stake and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chris, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Being a long time sufferer of Anxiety, fear has always been a great motivator and a great distraction when it comes to taking risks. i think its essential in any area of life to take risks and carry as little regret as possible. Getting out of your own way is something all together different. I often fall back on the quote of: Everything you’ve ever wanted is on the other side of fear. When i first started to embark on a solo career (after being in band for so many years) i decided in order to push through, take a leap of faith and say yes to all that comes your way. Its helped me see and feel differently then just letting your fear get the best of you. And the wins i’ve had and the hurdles i’ve worked through have shown me to keep on that path and mindset

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
After almost 2 decades writing , recording, playing and touring w/ the popular Denver, CO band The Trampolines i decided to move forward w/ a new chapter of songs, attitude and intention. Armed w/ new material from the last couple years i set out to tell stories of my life, love and loss, triumphs and struggles and the coping of being back at square one in a new world of making music where the landscape has changed significantly since id last made a record. It was anything but easy, emotionally, financially nothing about this seemed like the right move to make. Which was exactly why i had to do it. These words and music needed some life and i had to adapt and learn as i went from extensive registration process, to social media and even art work for album covers. I had dear friends take pictures, help shoot amazing videos and more then a few got their fair share of late night mixes sent to them for fresh ears since all the guys that played on the record lived in Nashville or the like. A solo career at any point starts w/ the best grass roots folks can ask for and i had that going for me! I owe alotta people for where i am and helping me get there. I managed to put out 2 singles so far w/ 2 more coming in the next couple months. A record to follow. Ecstatic to be taking this out live soon w/ full band and solo performances. If ive learned anything from stepping out alone its that i never was. And the best people come to you when your heart is filled and your intentions are true. It will always be scary but far worth it in the end. I also learned im always learning,,.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
OAR @ Red Rocks, a Bourbon tour down town and hopefully a few breweries as well–don’t forget RiverNorth. A Broncos game, a burger at Cactus Jacks (on the river) and some time in Keystone Village (hopefully a show at the Dillon Amphitheatre) and Snow Boarding in Breckenridge. Meow Wolf is always a blast and if there is time an overnight stay at the Broadmoor (don’t skip the brunch)

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I could tell you stories of my mentor Bill Evans who taught me to sing growing up. Or the musicians i’ve had the pleasure of working with and how humble and generous they’ve been through out. Or the incredible friends and fan base i’ve had pushing me and supporting me before and during this whole process. They would all be deservent of some high praise! However, non more deserved a shoutout of support more than my wife, (who also serves as my business partner, spring board and consigliere) and 2 kids Riley and McCartney for being my inspiration and even helping me with on-line content. This thing was built from the ground up on family
