We had the good fortune of connecting with Christiaan Syddall and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christiaan, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking was always a big part of doing anything outside of the box. Life is risky, getting in your car and driving is risky. You just have to be willing to choose what risk you’re willing to take. Career wise risk is what has gotten me to where I am at. Sacrifice and risking other avenues for the foreseeable future.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others is just the sheer will and dedication I have to my craft. I’ve spent years building up what some what call a skill. Getting to where I am today is not an overnight process and it shouldn’t be an overnight process. The hardest roads lead to the highest mountains. Lessons I’ve learned along the way… well to start don’t trust people who put money over everything. There’s a balance to being able to keep business fun still and I feel most people lose that overtime. Money will come if you’re doing things you love. When I was younger I was constantly surrounded by music and really took in what I was listening to. My parents were never together and being the only kid in my family to be bouncing back and forth definitely takes a toll on your mental. But I wouldn’t change a thing… it’s what made me who I am.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well first I would take them around the city, maybe stop at a couple hole in the wall shops. Then the obvious answer is to take them to the mountains, maybe go ziplining or something along that line. The beautiful thing about Colorado is that you can always find some amazing little shops with the best food.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My whole team, my managers, my best friends and most importantly my family. Something I’ve learned as I’ve taken a deeper dive into the industry is it’s hard to find that one person that no matter what will believe in you. Believe in your dream, let alone their own. But if you’re lucky enough to have even one person that will always be your cheerleader and hype man, it’s a whole lot harder to lose confidence and lose that drive to achieve greatness.
