We had the good fortune of connecting with Colleen Ferris Thompson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Colleen, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with the idea for my business after spending several years in the Swimwear industry on the retail side. I was on a vacation and wished that my swimsuit was reversible and the ties could be changed out so that I could secure the same tan lines and the same great fit, but look different anytime I wanted to. I knew there was no product on the market like this yet so I decided I would be the one to bring it to the world.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My swimwear line, Bikini Flavors, is both reversible and interchangeable. We are made in America, and very proud of it!
We offer variety and value in women’s swimwear, in that many of our bikinis can be styled over 20 different ways! Interchangeable swimwear ties are sold separately to add onto your existing Bikini Flavors suits. Support your favorite sports team, or stay on trend simply by changing up a few strings! What’s your flavor?

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The weekend trip would happen around September 15th in conjunction with the changing of the Aspen leaves – and around whomever is playing in concert at Red Rocks Ampitheatre that week. So concert and fall leaves are the main events.
Breakfast – pineapple upside down pancakes at Snooze
Lunch – packed homemade picnic because we would be on a hike, probably Sanitas in Boulder
Dinner – Sushi Den

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I definitely want to shout out all my friends and family for supporting me over the years with my idea! From attending pop up shops, to runway shows at New York Fashion Week and Miami Swim Week, my tribe has been with me along the way cheering me on. I would never be here without the love and support from each one of them.
