We had the good fortune of connecting with Connor Nich and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Connor, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
I’m the type of person who needs a routine to keep me going each day otherwise I find it hard to stay on track.

My favorite habit that I have is keeping a detailed weekly task list that I break down into daily tasks. It allows me to stay organized and helps maintain a proper work-life balance.

Other habits that have contributed to my growth and development as a photographer are journaling, stretching, and meditating daily. I find that these are great ways to take care of the mind and body to either start or end a busy day.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My journey has not been linear. There have been a lot of ups and downs, but the only way out is through.

One of my biggest challenges personally and professionally has been coming to terms with my relationship with epilepsy. For a while, it was like I was in denial about having it. When I started taking better care of myself and accepting epilepsy as part of my life, I noticed a significant improvement in my work as a photographer and my overall ability as a functioning human being.

A couple of things that I’ve learned along the way: – saying “no” is more than okay and, network, network, network.

I’m an INFJ with an innate need for human connection. I enjoy getting to know each person that I photograph on a deeper level whether we’re shooting an editorial or a headshot session. Establishing a rapport with the individual I’m working with is important to me intrinsically and allows me to bring my portraiture to life.

Right now I’m most excited about the work I’ve been creating in Denver. I’m proud of myself and I’m excited to continue to grow as an artist and business owner.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My brother is in town? That’s crazy.

We’re starting the trip off with a couple Latte’s at Blue Sparrow Coffee and then heading straight to Show Pony Vintage to get some new fits and then Wash Park to catch up a bit. City o’ City for a late lunch and knowing me, again for dinner too. Oh, and desert from Make Believe Bakery right next door.

A trip to Rocky Mountain National Park is a must, but only after we stop at Middle State Coffee. To finish the day we’d have to hit Improper City for a beer and the Vegan food trucks.

Catching a sunrise at Red Rock Amphitheater and getting inspired at the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver would make for a great day, too, paired with dinner from Watercourse Foods.

A rockies game for sure.

We’ll grab some drinks at my favorite bar in RiNo – Honey Elixir.

Before Kevin heads back east, we’ll make sure he see’s the Botanical Gardens.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Without the love, support, and encouragement of my girlfriend, Taylor Paige, I wouldn’t be as far along on my journey with photography as I am at this point. Taylor has been my rock during my journey as a photographer, through it all during the times when it was time to raise a glass and celebrate, but most importantly, she’s helped me through the moments when I’ve wanted to pack it up and reconsider my career as a photographer.
