We had the good fortune of connecting with Conrad Mata and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Conrad, why did you pursue a creative career?
I am an avid believer in the sentiment that to find your purpose, look to what made the hours pass like minutes when you were seven years old. For me that was writing stories under the tree in the front yard of my childhood home. At my core I am driven by narrative. That storytelling takes form in songwriting, acting, filmmaking, and poetry. To this day, it makes the hours pass like minutes and I am so grateful to make my living creatively.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am most excited about starring in “The Hombres” at Vintage Theater in Aurora, Colorado. The show runs from May 31st until July 7th.

I studied acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. My background as an actor sets me apart as a musician. My live performances are captivating and theatric despite adorning the stage alone with just a guitar.

I have truly been so fortunate along my artistic journey. Starting with my family, who have supported me endlessly; allowing me the freedom to create. Along the way, I have also had mentors and collaborators teach and motivate me. Recently, organizations and institutions around Denver have been putting their trust and backing behind my art.

Before addressing any adversities, I wanted to express my gratitude. The journey has included its share of letdowns and tough lessons learned while navigating an increasingly competitive and dehumanizing music industry. But the moments of beauty have always swiftly made up for the hardships.

The world should know that my music is completely independently produce and published.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
SieFilm Center is the best spot to find a weird independent films.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would be remised to not mention my wonderful parents and sister here. I was blessed to be born into lifelong friend group. My family is a constant source of support, encouragement, and inspiration.
