We had the good fortune of connecting with Corey Mercer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Corey, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
When I first left the corporate world and started a freelance business three years ago I was working 15-17 hours a day and thought that was the definition of entrepreneurship. As I’ve gone from freelance to building a full agency I’ve learned that working more does not mean you’re more successful, typically it means the opposite. It means you don’t know how to manage your clients, you don’t know how to manage your time, and you don’t know how to delegate tasks. Learning how to properly manage a team, delegate tasks, and manage clients has been a huge aspect of getting my work life balance figured out.

What should our readers know about your business?
FRNDS is a creative digital agency based in Denver, CO that specializes in content creation, digital marketing, and branding. We work with a wide range of clients from corporations like Adidas and Draft Kings to our favorite coffee shop down the street, Queen City Coffee. One thing that sets us apart from most agencies is how we integrate into your business as your own marketing team would. We come in and create a strategy, build-out all your content, run your social and digital marketing, and make a real impact for your brand. There isn’t going to be 10 different people you need to reach out to for updates and changes, you come to your FRNDS and we make it happen. FRNDS is celebrating its one-year birthday this month and it has been a wild ride through 2020. We’ve been thrown every curve ball possible and not only stayed alive but thrived during the pandemic. FRNDS grew this year in multiple aspects, from our team to our revenue. We’ve gotten to produce over 80 pieces of content since the stay at home order took place and have done 7 figures in trackable sales for our clients. One thing we’ve learned to stay true during the pandemic is that you need to be adaptable no matter what you do. Whether you run an agency like us or a retail shop or restaurant, you never know what is going to happen and you need to be able to adapt QUICKLY. That is what will differentiate you from the competition. All we want people to know about FRNDS is that we’re not going anywhere. We’re here to stay and we’re only going to get bigger.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Eat- Mizu Drink- Death and Co. Visit – anywhere in the mountains Hangout – any good rooftop in the summer or by any fireplace in the winter

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to give a huge shoutout to my mom. She’s always had my back with every entrepreneurial endeavor I’ve started and never forced me to fit into the classic corporate mold after college. Thanks for letting me do me, mom.
