We had the good fortune of connecting with Corey Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a film and digital photographer. I use vintage 35mm and 120mm film cameras alongside polaroids and modern digital cameras. But, I wholeheartedly believe the reason I get many referrals and work is because of the service I give my couples. My philosophy is rooted in serving the couple and the couple’s family on their big day. I say this on my About page, “This is YOUR wedding day; the beginning of a new branch of your family tree. It’s a celebration of your love and commitment to one another for a lifetime. I believe this time in your lives should be preserved in a way that brings you back to these moments, and allows you to see and feel the way you felt then.” I believe viewing weddings and my service as a wedding photographer from the perspective through my faith as the reason my couples/clients feel the weight of their wedding day – not from the stress of a timeline, but from the profoundness and celebration of their legacy beginning.

I started my photography journey while I was in college pursuing a degree in Music Performance. I was buying and selling music gear often and traded a drum kit for a buddy’s camera in hopes of putting together more professional video content for my own lesson students. From there, I started photographing senior recitals and headshots for my peers. I quickly moved onto photographing engagements, assisting wedding photographers on wedding days, and then taking on weddings of my own. Over the years, I’ve learned a lot and am learning more at every wedding I photograph. There are many nuances to weddings and you have to be a quick problem solver to make in-the-moment judgement calls all of the time. But, it’s a rewarding career path and worthy of your time and energy to be a part of something bigger than yourself every weekend.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My fiance and I are funny when it comes to this haha. We’re more of the crowd to try new places every time we go into the city. We don’t visit often enough outside of work to have a list of our favorites but, we love Sienna Mercado, Altius, PINS Mechanical, and most of the younger crowd’s eateries and entertainment!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents and fiance Shannon! I owe all of my success to being raised in a supportive, faith-filled home and to have having the biggest cheerleader as my soon-to-be wife.
