We had the good fortune of connecting with Corinthiah Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Corinthiah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thoughts were , ” I want to have a community center that is trauma informed and offer all the services I needed when I released from prison – a place that offered everything I would need in one place and staff that had lived experience who I could relate too and were culturally inclusive

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My Career path started after I learned that I experienced several traumas and was willing to and open to heal from them.
I went back to Emily Griffith in 1999 to obtain my GED , I enrolled in CCA with a major in psychology -my interest was ‘why do we make the decision we make and how trauma impacts those decisions”. at this time I was also reconnecting with my children after active addiction and incarceration. I met the woman who had my children she encouraged me to take counseling classes after getting to know me and my sons. I went to Odyssey training center completed the courses and became an addiction counselor as well as graduated with a major in psychology and minor in sociology from this point I was able to work in many capacities inpatient and outpatient centers including detox facilities were I gained many years of experience. I started the Don’t Look Back Center in April of 2018 and I love being able to make a difference in my community and support underserved people in my community , I am also an advocate for systemic invisibility.
