We had the good fortune of connecting with Dan Sigmund and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dan, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The biggest factor behind our success is a strong focus on understanding the customer’s vision and translating it into a clear, well-executed plan. Early in my career I worked in engineering product development for a Fortune 500 appliance company, where we were trained to prioritize the “voice of the customer.” That experience shaped how I approach construction today.

Before formally starting SIG Construction in 2020, I spent over a decade renovating and investing in real estate. One thing I consistently saw was that many frustrations homeowners experience during construction come from unclear expectations or miscommunication. Our goal is to solve that upfront by carefully listening, defining the project scope clearly, and creating a structured process that carries the project from design through construction.

By combining an engineering mindset with strong project management and transparent communication, we’re able to make complex projects feel organized and predictable for our clients while delivering high-quality results.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
One of the things that sets us apart is our focus on project management. By developing clear systems for coordinating trades, materials, and schedules, we’re able to complete complex projects efficiently and with a high level of predictability for our clients.

One of the most rewarding parts of the work is when a homeowner says they didn’t think the project could be completed that quickly. Renovations can be disruptive to everyday life, so being able to deliver a quality result while helping families get back to normal sooner is something our team takes pride in.

Getting here wasn’t easy. A lot of time went into refining processes, improving communication, and building strong relationships with subcontractors and vendors. Along the way I’ve learned that while systems are important, construction is still a people business. Every project involves different personalities, goals, and expectations, and understanding those perspectives is key to delivering a great outcome.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When friends visit, one of the first things I like to do is take them for a hike on Green Mountain. It’s a great spot to see the Front Range and look back at the Denver skyline, and it really shows how unique it is to have mountains and a major city right next to each other.

After that we usually explore some of the nearby downtown areas like Golden or Olde Town Arvada. Both have great local restaurants, breweries, and a really welcoming community feel.

If the timing works out, catching a game at Coors Field or Ball Arena is always a great way to experience the energy of the city. And personally, I’m always on the hunt for a great sandwich, so we’d definitely spend some time visiting some of the classic sandwich spots around Denver as well.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d give a big shoutout to my wife and family. I decided to go all-in on starting the company shortly after our first child was born, and since then our family has grown to three kids alongside the business. Building a company while raising a young family comes with a lot of long days and late nights, and her support at home has made that possible. Having someone who believes in what you’re building and supports the vision through the ups and downs makes all the difference, and I’m incredibly grateful for that.
