We had the good fortune of connecting with Darnell Webb and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Darnell, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor when it comes to my success is my determination and my family. Ever since my 3 strokes in 2020 right before Covid-19 lockdown, I’ve been determined to bounce back and overcome all the different conditions a stroke survivor goes through. Prove to the world and all the stroke survivor’s that you can overcome anything and have the chance to bounce back. The support from my family has been immense. Without them I wouldn’t be where I am today. From my wonderful parents, awesome brothers, my wife family, friends, my work family, and my amazing 4 kids, and of course my amazing wife. Without them I don’t know where I would be. Everything I do is to repsent my family and do my absolute best to make them proud. Thank you to my amazing wife for believing in me and pushing me to do this. It’s been an crazy journey but I wouldn’t charge it for the world.

When it comes to the brand I’m building the success comes from the amazing parents and players that sign up for the organization from the community believing in our brand. I’m surrounding . Without the fantastic work of my head coach (Joshua Feaster) & the team mom from the past and my current ones the help from them has been a true blessing. They are the true definition of being a servant leader. People like them makes your organization great and successful. The future is looking bright as our 7 on 7 teams continue to develop and grow, and we also plan on adding a Girls Flag Football program beginning in the Spring of 2025. I’m very excited for the future of the Bison Athletic Club and positive development will transpire for years to come.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I work at Smoky Hill High School as a security specialist by day and a passionate football coach by night. I love working for this school the kids in that building are amazing. you get to work and build a repour with so many people from different backgrounds and overall I love the environment it’s a great building to work in. For the football side of it, I wanted to coach there because anybody can go to the great programs around the state and have it easy. I like a challenge and Smoky Hill football is a big challenge and I want to take it on. What sets me apart from others I believe I continuously work hard and make sure to always strive to put my best foot forward and to never give in no matter the circumstance. I’m super excited for where Bison Athletic Club is headed we are a growing organization going into year four. The word is continuing to get out there to the community and we’re growing rapidly so I’m very excited. The road thus far as been filled with a plethora of difficulties but I wouldn’t change a thing at all. My journey made me the man I am today and helps me relate to some of my players. The way I overcame all my challenges is having faith that I can do it, family support, and determination. The lesson I learned on the way is that you have to always put your best foot forward at all times. You have believe in not just yourself but others as well, you definitely got to have faith. What I want the world to know about my brand ( Bison Football ) is that we are going to continue to grow and I’m not giving up anytime soon in the great Deion Sanders words, We coming!!! Shoutout to my staff you are the best!! Everything that comes from my story I just want people to know as long you keep working hard and always having faith you can get through it no matter what. Just keep putting your best foot forward. My stroke worriers keep fighting 1% better everyday!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to town we would definitely have to go up to Boulder on the weekend and catch a CU game now that it’s hot up there these days. During the week we would go to different restaurant’s like Burnt Ends, and Cherry Cricket. Would also hit Wash park and do some outdoor activities. I would also take them to the Denver Aquarium. Night life we would go somewhere in the Rhino District or Larimer Square and go have some fun down there.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank my wife! She has always pushed me to be a better individual, Husband , father, and Coach. Every day is a blessing to still be here in life. Once everything went on lockdown during COVID, things were extremely difficult and I couldn’t do rehab, and I couldn’t get meet with certain specialist doctors so I wasn’t receiving much support from anybody. She pulled every string she could to get me seen from a specialist. I finally got seen by a doctor and began to begin the rehab process. . Having 3 strokes in 2020 should of took my life. The Doctor stated that “I was lucky to be alive” when I was in the hospital. Recovery was a stressful process with Covid-19 going on. I got released from the hospital 3 days before the nation went on lockdown and didn’t receive decisive and detailed information on why I had 3 strokes at 33. As we continued to run tests, I eventually received support from mt townhouse, a rehab center. I had to retrain my brain how on how to do everything, and it was hard and very difficult at times. My wife continuously supported me every step of the way and made sure I wouldn’t fall into a dark place. While she was doing that, she was working as a medical provider during Covid. My wife would work 16 hours days then would of course come home to be a wonderful and outstanding mother and help her husband with his recovery. I owe her everything, without my Honey Bee there I wouldn’t be here. She has been sick these past 3 years with her own medical conditions that have come along after I bounced back from my own character building situation. I will do everything to help her get back on her feet like she did for me. Thank You Honey Bee I love you!
