We had the good fortune of connecting with David Bounichou and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi David, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The idea for my project came from my passion for North American sports, mainly for three of the major leagues : the NHL, NBA and NFL. I wanted to find a way to share this passion with other fans in French-speaking countries and regions. Then, after seeing that my page was also being followed by many English speakers, I switched to a bilingual format to share this passion with more people around the world.

Although I’m an amateur in this field, it’s important to me to offer appealing visuals and accurate information. It takes a lot of time every week to keep my page alive, but I still enjoy it as much as ever.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In my day job, I work for the local government in my town in Switzerland, where I help organize weekly municipal meetings and assist with the management of the civic registry. Interestingly, I try to bring the same dedication and structure into my creative projects, especially db_ice_hoops. Whether it’s managing a posting schedule, verifying historical data, or engaging with followers, I find that the discipline I’ve developed in my professional work helps me stay focused and consistent in what I do.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit me in Switzerland, I’d definitely take him/her to Montreux first. The lakeside promenade is absolutely stunning, especially on a sunny day : it’s the perfect place to walk, relax and enjoy the incredible view of the mountains and the Leman Lake. In the evening, we’d head up into the mountains above Montreux to enjoy a traditional Swiss fondue with a nice view. We’d also explore some of the country’s most charming cities like Bern (the capital) with its medieval old town and Luzern, famous for its iconic wooden chapel bridge and beautiful lake scenery.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to several people and sources of inspiration that play an important role in my journey.

First, I’m truly grateful for the support of my parents, my brother, and my beloved Luana. The love of my son also gives me strength every day, and together they all inspire me in both of my creative projects — db_ice_hoops and sweat_2_help. With sweat_2_help, my second Instagram profile, I turn my sports activities into a way to give by donating to nonprofit organizations.

I also want to thank the amazing online communities and platforms like Hockey Reference, Basketball Reference, and the many wikipedia contributors who preserve and share the rich history of sports. Their dedication is a true inspiration and a huge help in everything I create.

Finally a big shoutout to everyone who follows and interacts with my content. Your support means a lot for me ! It helps keep both db_ice_hoops and sweat_2_help alive with passion and purpose.
