Meet David Garcia | Director of Reenty & Anti-Recidivism

We had the good fortune of connecting with David Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi David, how does your business help the community?
#AuthenticRecoveryServices greatly impacts societies addiction and relapse by using peer coaches who have lived experience’s to offer compassion and understanding as an offering to guide addicts in their recovery.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
For years I created a persona out of fear of being myself and found myself tangled in the judicial system as a juvenile at 13 up until an adult at 41. I never gave myself a chance to follow my dreams Instead I created a nightmare that would end in the hospital faced with a life threatening blood infection from my addictions.

At that moment I began to wake up and knew if I didn’t stop at that moment I would be dead. That was my “Day One”.

My road to recovery wasn’t easy and all bets were against me. I remember every bit of pain and agony it felt accompanied with shame and guilt that fueled my drive to want to live again.

As I answer these questions I feel the emotions come over me. It wasn’t easy. It isn’t easy. But I made it, and so can others.

One thing I learned through this journey is to never let your past define your future.

I ran from my past for years, trying to belong with societies norms just to realize society is not normal. lol. I’m 4 years sober this October 2024 and now I live free from my own past, using every part of it to encourage others and rebuild and rewrite their own story of forgiveness.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I haven’t been in Denver long but I would definitely suggest Flower Child at the Cherry Creek mall or just taking a walk at one of the many parks in and around Denver.
