We had the good fortune of connecting with Davion Bugarin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Davion, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
What made me pursue an artistic or creative career is the fact that I’ve always had and passion and a feeling that I would change the world through my words. Since a young age I knew that was my path and everything I am doing know is just leading up to being able to do that more on a daily basis. I have been able to witness how powerful my words are through open mics and through those in my community and it’s truly an unbelievable feeling knowing that your words are touching those around you. Also because music and art hits my soul in such a different way I am art and I am a master piece and there could never be another person just like me and that intrigues my mind. Life is a huge canvas and we paint what we want on it everyday.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a poet and a hip hop artist as well as I have my own clothing brand called BLUFF( Beauty Loves Unique Frequencies Forever) which represents the understanding that pure love is unconditional and that the journey of life is abundant and everlasting. I am most proud and excited that I took the risk to do the things that I love an am passionate about. That’s literally all it takes is making the decision to start something and sticking with it. It was by far not easy, especially with the child hood that I came from. The most important lesson I have learned is that “You Are Never Not You” and you can never ever not be you. You have the ability to be whoever you want without conforming to society standards of who and what people think you should be, or look like. When you are yourself that is how you attract genuine energy.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If it was a week long trip, the first place I would take them is to get some good BBQ at the Hungry Wolf, after that I would take them to see downtown and 16 street mall. Then later in the night I would try to find an open mic night or a local show that’s happening so they can see how dope our music scene is. We would go to the art museum, the museum of nature and science. Probably go to a nuggets game or take a trip to the mountains or the hot springs. There is a lot of stuff to do out here so it would be hard trying to do it all in one week.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout would be to this book called The Alchemist, which really told me that I am already the treasure that I am seeking, I would shoutout myself because if I didn’t have the right mindset I definitely would be in a different place, and I would say every person that I have meet throughout my life. Each person has taught or shown me something pertaining to the journey I am. Also music because life is music and music is life.
