We had the good fortune of connecting with Deborah Abrams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Deborah, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I’m crafty and a natural problem solver. I bought a teardrop camper when I was laid off from my corporate job in 2015, and had been making furnishings for mine for years! Just tweaking my designs and having fun with fabrics. Eventually, people noticed and asked me to make items for theirs! I was already making teardrop decor, now I get to set other people up with the necessary furnishings to camp comfortably and in style.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m thrilled that I get to make custom interior decor for teardrops and tiny campers. I can talk about teardrops, camping, and road trips all day. As a member of this camping lifestyle, I’m fascinated with what others are doing in theirs, how they’re addressing their own challenges, and being creative too! I was developing mine, when I realized that no one was designing solutions around our unique needs, and I’d have to make mine myself. But not everyone can or wants to! Like so much outdoor gear, performance and durability are paramount, so I apply my science & engineering background to research and test countless designs and textiles to put the finishing touches on people’s home-on-wheels. Handmade campers are a work of art in their own right and I have a deep respect for their craftsmanship. I wanted my community to have a b-line to functional, decorative furnishings that were a reflection of their own style. Each tiny camper has their own personality, and I love being a part of realizing that vision.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There’s so much to see! A mix of favorite spots & uncharted territory. One of my favorite spots is Areyto Food Truck, dishing sensational Puerto Rican food I can’t get enough of. And since they’re always parked outside different breweries, there are so many locations to choose from, for that beer to wash it down. Raices Brewery has great Latin American entertainment year round, but you really can’t go wrong in this town. I’d probably take them downtown to have dinner and a show at Dazzle before heading to the Peak Lounge with 27th story views of the skyline. And check out the Dairy Block to stroll the shops & grab Drag Queen Brunch Bingo, that’s always a hoot! Walk around Sloan’s Lake and cool off at the Edgewater Public Market, with the best food selection in town! And any excuse to visit one of my favorite shops, Revampt, for upcycled goods in Cherry Creek! And of course while we’re there, pop into shops. There would of course be a daytrip or overnight to soak in some hot springs and wander around a mountain village, whether it’s Cottonwood and Buena Vista or Hot Sulphur and Winter Park. And hopefully still time (and the season) to visit a farmers market too! I love Denver!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my friend Lisa Sabatinos. She was kind enough to invite me to hang at her AirBnB in West Palm Beach FL while she was at a week-long conference. That unplanned week of yoga, reading, pool lounging, and reflection opened my mind up to the creative endeavor that became Boondock Interiors LLC. We joke that she went to Date With Destiny and I came home with a new business.
