We had the good fortune of connecting with Donald “Goose” Phillips and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Donald “Goose”, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My journey into starting my own business has always been rooted in my love for cooking. From a young age, I found joy in experimenting with flavors and techniques, honing my skills through trial and error rather than formal classes. For me, cooking has always been about more than just preparing food; it’s an act of love and care that brings people together.

Seeing the smiles on my customers’ faces as they enjoy my dishes is incredibly rewarding. It reaffirms my belief that food has the power to create connections and evoke memories. The return customers provide a sense of validation, as their trust in my brand is something I cherish deeply. It inspires me to continually improve and innovate, ensuring that each meal reflects the passion and dedication I pour into my craft. Building relationships through my food has been the most fulfilling aspect of my entrepreneurial journey.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started my food truck because I was tired of traveling the country and being away from my family. What sets me apart is that I’m not just serving BBQ; I’m smokin’ love. I offer handcrafted sandwiches like my “Not a Philly” and my “Quebano,” which showcase my passion for flavor and creativity.

The journey hasn’t been easy, but it is 1000% worth it. It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to serve my community every day, sharing my love for food and connecting with others. Each day brings new challenges and rewards, and I cherish the chance to bring joy through my cooking.

I want people to know my brand and story is embedded in me. I live it, I breathe it. I am Smokin’ Love in every sense.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to my wife, Tristan. The Sauce Making, Calendar Booking, Keep me grounded, Best Wife and Business Partner. I often wonder how I got so lucky. Every day is for her.
