We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Devyn Lee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Devyn, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to build a healing space where people feel safe, supported, and truly seen. So many of us are navigating stress, chronic symptoms, or emotional weight, and I wanted Root and Branch Acupuncture to be a place where people could finally exhale and begin to heal on a deeper level.

I also felt a strong calling to share the wisdom and power of Chinese medicine. Acupuncture has so much potential to transform health and well-being, and I wanted to create a space where patients feel empowered and educated about their own healing process. Root and Branch is a reflection of everything I believe in: personalized care, deep listening, and a commitment to walking alongside people on their journey—wherever they’re starting from.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Root and Branch Acupuncture is a space for healing—deep, meaningful, and lasting healing. I offer acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and lifestyle support with a focus on creating individualized care that meets people where they are. While I treat a wide range of conditions, I have a special passion for supporting women through fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond.

What sets my practice apart is the level of intention and presence I bring into each treatment. I don’t believe in rushing patients in and out of the door. I take time to listen, to ask the right questions, and to help people feel truly seen. That level of care creates trust—and that’s where real healing begins. I also love to educate my patients so they feel empowered, not just treated.

Getting to where I am now hasn’t been easy, but it’s been incredibly rewarding. Starting and growing a business takes more than just skill—it takes vision, courage, and a willingness to keep showing up, even when things feel uncertain. There were definitely moments of doubt, especially early on. But I kept coming back to my why: the desire to help people feel better in their bodies and more connected to themselves.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that consistency and authenticity go a long way. If you stay rooted in your values and show up with integrity, people feel that. The relationships I’ve built with my patients, and the trust we’ve established, are what I’m most proud of.

If there’s one thing I want people to know about Root and Branch, it’s that this is a place where you’re not just a number—you’re a whole person, and your story matters. I’m here to help you feel supported and empowered in your healing journey, and to remind you that your body has incredible potential to heal when given the right environment. That’s what this practice is all about.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit, I’d want them to experience the best of Colorado’s natural beauty and relaxed, welcoming vibe. We’d start with a hike at Red Rocks, and if there was a concert, we’d definitely go—it’s such a magical experience with the stunning backdrop. My dog Shiloh would join us for some of the hikes, wagging his tail and adding extra joy to our adventure. We’d spend time in the mountains—snowboarding in the winter or hiking and camping in the summer. The peacefulness and awe-inspiring landscapes always remind me of the incredible beauty we’re lucky to have here.

We’d also take time to relax—maybe a visit to the hot springs to unwind, and I’d definitely take them to my clinic for a little reset. Between the outdoor adventures, the fresh air, and the moments of calm, I’d want them to leave feeling both refreshed and inspired. It’s all about finding the balance between exploration, relaxation, and soaking in the natural wonder of this beautiful place.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe so much to my parents. They’ve always believed in me, even when my path looked different from the norm. Starting a business and working in a field like Chinese medicine can be daunting, but their constant encouragement and steady support gave me the confidence to trust myself and pursue what I love. They taught me the value of hard work, compassion, and resilience—all qualities that have shaped how I show up for my patients and my practice.

I also want to give deep gratitude to the medicine itself. Traditional Chinese Medicine has been more than just a career path—it’s been a personal guide, a source of inspiration, and a lifelong teacher. Its ability to view the body, mind, and spirit as interconnected has completely shifted the way I understand health and healing. The depth and wisdom of this medicine continue to amaze me, and I feel honored to practice it every day.

And most importantly, I want to thank my patients. It takes a lot of courage to seek help and step into the work of healing. I’m constantly inspired by the people who come to Root and Branch—by their vulnerability, their commitment to growth, and their trust in this process. Each patient teaches me something new and motivates me to keep learning, listening, and showing up with my whole heart. I wouldn’t be here without them.
