We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Elise Rigney and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Elise, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
This is a question I am asked by many other women in our industry. How do I start a family and continue to grow my practice simultaneously? How can I be a present mom, wife, daughter, sister, etc but still kick ass in my career? It’s almost like we think we have to choose one or the other. You don’t. You can choose for your schedule and future to look different than what your parents, mentors, bosses, have told you. I own multiple businesses, am a wife and mama of three littles (6, 3, and 10 months) and a Chiropractor! I have found that building a team with incredible women has been a game changer for me. Our team cares for our patients and it allows the pressure to be off of me as a solo doctor. I’ve realized that I don’t need to be the person “doing” everything and that I can ask for help in most areas. Intentionality with my time has also helped. I time block my schedule so when I am at clinic, I can focus fully on my team and patients. I schedule dates with my husband, dates with my kids, healthcare/self care time for myself, and I am very intentional with staying in present time. Balance is a myth to me. It is all about harmony and riding the waves. Some days are more challenging, and others are more chill. Work hard, play hard – and enjoy all seasons of the journey!
What should our readers know about your business?
Impact Chiropractic has been voted Top 10 Chiropractors in the state of Colorado for six years running. We have a team of six family Chiropractors who all specialize in pediatric care, prenatal Chiropractic, and neurologically-based spinal corrective care. The beauty in the care at our office is that you have six sets of doctor’s eyes on your neurological scans, digital X-rays, and history/exam. We formulate a plan together to help our patients receive amazing results from their care in our office. Thankfully, our patient testimonies and reviews speak for our care. We have over 380 five star google reviews in which you can read about care in our office helping with headaches, scoliosis, ADHD, anxiety, low back pain, PMS, infertility, and more. We also are one of the only clinics in the area performing all six points of the Webster technique for prenatal patients. We collaborate with TenderGifts Midwifery birth center midwives and homebirth midwives, as well as OBs at PVH, McKee, Banner, and MCR.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I absolutely love showing our friends around Fort Collins and Northern Colorado. For outdoor activities, I would make sure we hike Horsetooth Rock, Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes, and then grab SnackAttack and head up the Poudre for a picnic at Picnic Rock. I would then have us bike the trails and hop from brewery to brewery. We could then spend evenings at the Exchange or Old Town Square – and have dinners at The Regional, Chimney Park, and Little.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Well, this one makes me tear up. I owe my entrepreneurial spirit and unwavering support to my Dad. Sadly, I just lost him in August 2020 very unexpectedly. He was a serial entrepreneur and was easily excited about the next possibility to be innovative, independent, and fulfil a mission. When I decided I wanted to open my chiropractic clinic within the first year after completing my Doctorate, besides my husband, my dad was the only other person in my life in support of that. He had faith that I could accomplish what I put my mind out to do. Even until the week he passed away, he had been encouraging me to start my consulting company. I thought about putting that idea on the backburner for 2021 because of all the grief that came with his loss. But, deep down I knew he wouldn’t want me to table my dreams. So I went for it. I launched the company!
