We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr Lynn Schriner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr Lynn, what principle do you value most?
Kindness and service is the value that has guided my compass. In our world kindness and love win in my mind. The most beautiful souls change the world by peaceful actions.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My life has been challenging with serious health issues, which started young. In spite of spending years in and out of hospitals I somehow found the strength and ability to learn how to do many things. I started with modeling in the 80’s and was featured in the Rocky mountain news “People to watch.” I got a record contract and had a talk show on cable. My art was in galleries in Cherry Creek and LODO. I began doing photography as a side gig and then returned to school to become a Holistic Dr. Patch Adams sat on the board of the college and I was so inspired by his work ethic and love of people and his ability to overcome obstacles I felt I too, could find the courage to press on through the extreme pain and fatigue I was living with.
I had a clinic for some years and when I became too ill to practice I turned my eyes to the needs of orphans around the world. I see now that when my life grows very difficult I try find others who are worse off than I am so I can help them. I am most proud of the fact that many people’s lives have been changed because I found strength to rise up and give. I think all of us do better when we give to others. In these past few years I have been writing books and working on a Glamping Airbnb in southern Colorado. As an Immune compromised person in the Pandemic it has been a struggle but I don’t quit. I keep pressing in and pressing on, with radical acceptance and the decision every day to live my life as if it were my last.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am very much into nature, so always a day with a friend would be in the outdoors. Cherry Creek Reservoir, hiking and photography or being downtown on the 16th street mall or Red rocks amphitheater. Colorado has so many places to explore from the mountains skiing and hot springs, to the many reservoirs for boating and rivers for fishing.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
In the Orphan work that I started back in 2005 www.drlynnandtheorphans.com the influencer for me was a woman named Susie Krabacher who was featured in a local newspaper about her work with orphans in Haiti. I was very moved and after supporting her for awhile I felt led to start my own foundation.

In songwriting my shoutout would have to be Joni Mitchell.
In my design and brand with the Runaway Ranch would be Ralph Lauren.
In my Doctoring as a Holistic Dr I would have to pick Patch Adams.
In my writing of books, it would be my Dad, the late John Reece.
