We had the good fortune of connecting with Dylan Herr and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dylan, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“Every Morning You Have Two Choices: Continue To Sleep With Your Dreams, Or Wake Up and Chase Them.” This quote inspired me to go after my goals. I’d wake up and educate myself everyday, and take very few days off. I was always questioned if I’d be successful because I wasn’t great at school. So I enjoy proving people wrong, helping people, and inspiring young kids.
What should our readers know about your business?
I own 3 Red Wing Shoe Stores. In Casper Wyoming, Cheyenne Wyoming, and Brighton Colorado. We do things different then most shoe stores. We still measure your feet twice. We scan your foot digitally to analyze your foot, and recommend proper orthotics, and we put the shoes on for you. We also service your shoes you buy from me, for life, for FREE. I am the most proud that I’ve created 3 successful business before 25 with some great people in my corner to help. I was one of the youngest owners in Red Wing history at 21. I have so much to learn still obviously. Recently I am so proud to be a New Dad and be able to create a work life balance. I got to where I’m at today with a lot of help from my Dad, and my willingness to learn and work. The lessons I’ve learned is how much more stressful & difficult it is actually owning your own business. I wouldn’t change it for the world however. I’ve learned to be more compassionate, and lead to make others better than me. I want others to succeed. We are family owned and operated Red Wing dealer in Colorado and Wyoming. We have been in business for 51 years. As a family we have 9 stores. I personally have 3. We are the Herr group. Stores Colorado: Pueblo; Greeley, Longmont, Littelton, Grand Junction, Johnstown, and Brighton Colorado Stores Wyoming: Casper, Cheyenne Wyoming.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is a tough one… If a friend came to Brighton, Colorado. First day, I’d take them to TopGolf because it’s the best time for all abilities of Golf. Then we’d go to Cheddars which is a delicious locally owned restaurant in Thornton that’s perfectly priced. Finish the night with some fishing at Barr Lake. Day 2-3. Taking them to the mountains (summer/spring time) We could probably spend 2 days there. Probably 1 day in Breckinridge, and 1 day in Aspen. Do some hiking, and alpine slide. Then finish the evenings with some local breweries. Day 4. Relax, and go to a Denver Nuggets game (so sad we can’t right now) Day 5 go to IMI Motorsports and ride dirt bikes and race go carts. Then go to the view house for an evening bite to eat and a beer
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Dad. He inspires me every day and is one of my best friends. He is the leader of our group. I am working my tail off to take over our 50 + year family legacy. He is who taught me everything I know, and has made me the man I am today, incredibly blessed. My mom has also been a huge blessing always being there for me and giving me everything I needed.
