We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth Marberry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elizabeth, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
As the Owner & Director of Education for two small businesses and the mother of two young kids (4 & 7 years old), I firmly believe that our children are always watching and learning more from our ACTIONS than our words.

I am proud of the fact that my kids get to witness their mom chasing her dreams every single day. They are seeing first hand that it takes passion, resilience and a relentless determination to make a meaningful impact in business and in life.

My hope is that by seeing me brightened by my life’s work, they will in turn give themselves permission to follow their calling and be brave enough to design a life they love.

What should our readers know about your business?|
I launched Wedding Dance Coach in 2010 when I was a bride myself! I was, of course, thrilled to be marrying the love of my life but was also faced with the intense pressure and stress of planning a wedding.

When I thought about performing our First Dance in front of ALL of our friends and family I realized how important it was to me and I quickly got butterflies knowing we would be dancing together (for the first time formally) in the spotlight.

I knew that if I was nervous for my first dance (being a professional dancer & instructor), surely others felt the same way and I wanted to help.

I got to work and choreographed a FUN “surprise dance” with my non-dancer husband (the kind where you start slow and unrehearsed and then bust out into some upbeat songs & dance styles) and we ended up totally rocking it! I was blown away by how well received our first dance was (people were on their feet!) and how much it changed the entire dynamic of the reception. The dance floor was packed for the rest of the night and I knew I had found some magic!

After 10 years of being in the wedding industry, Wedding Dance Coach now has a team of 5 fabulous instructors and has worked with over 1500 couples. We pride ourselves on being wedding dance experts and enjoy customizing first dance, father/daughter, mother/son and wedding party dances that are unique and fun.

Each instructor brings something new and exciting to the table and we are deeply passionate about bringing our clients visions to life (even if their main goal is to not look like an awkward middle school couple). With our passion and expertise, we help our clients gain confidence and look their best on the dance floor.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely suggest they go check out Acreage by Stem Ciders in Lafayette. Stunning views of the mountains, excellent ciders and high quality eats. It’s perfect for a date night or the whole family!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a massive shoutout to my husband, Greg. Without his support, love and encouragement I wouldn’t be where I am today. We are the ultimate team and I am beyond grateful to have him by my side on this wild ride.
