Meet Ellie Punch | Master Trainer (dog)

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ellie Punch and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ellie, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m from Australia. And came to Canada in 2007 as a mid stop in a year long travel to earn some more cash to continued to Europe.
I didn’t make it to Europe and instead bought a landscaping business in Vancouver.
I didn’t graduate high school and the chances of doing well in business according to most was slim to none. Since then I have found a career in which I can monetize skills that have been looked over as well as help stop behavioural euthanasia in dogs.
I adapted in order to learn and teach myself what most consider basics along the way, in each job, each experience I’d pick up something new to “level up”. Now a 2 time business owner, and an ability to understand human in a unique way, I’d say the doubt, misunderstanding, lack of ability to learn conventionally created a need for me to do life unconventionally with a drive created by proving I was also smart and capable. Life has been my school.

What should our readers know about your business?
8 years ago I brought home a 9 week old Staffordshire Bullterrier home after selling a landscaping business. At 5 months he showed signs of aggression. At 7 months I realized it was only puppies under 5 months he took serious issue with. After much effort and requests, no trainer was willing or capable of helping us and recommended euthanasia. This led me on my path to becoming a dog trainer.
He has since helped train and rehabilitate 100’s of dogs since. Chess, not only the love of my life, is a well trained (most of the time) boy who I wouldn’t have had so much success in saving lives of others with out.
Starting with easier dogs and puppies at first, figuring out some behavioural issues along the way, I can now proudly say I have become the Master Trainer I was certified as many years ago,
With aggressive and severely nervous dogs my passion as the end result is life saving and truly amazing. In a short time with their owners on board, dogs get to live their best life again, with more freedom, less stress, and no need to perform the “dog” in which is unacceptable in our society.
Dogs have taught me A tonne.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
As cheesy as it sounds I am so very grateful to anyone who has crossed my path over time, as each and everyone has left a print of some kind.
The people who really stuck with me at different times and deserve an extra special shout out are: My brother, thom. A friend and counsellor, Brigitte Clark. My first real heartbreak, Alex. And of course my forever loving family downunder.
