We had the good fortune of connecting with Emilee & Adrian Velasquez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emilee & Adrian, what do you want people to remember about you?
At Storytelling Duo we want our legacy to be about heartfelt connection. Not just the kind that happens between couples and their photos, but the connection people feel when they work with us. Like they’re seen, valued, and genuinely cared for. We want to build genuine relationships with our couples because we are not only taking photos of one of the most special days of their lives but we want them to remember how we made them feel.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Adrian and Emilee went to high school together but eventually reconnected years later through photography. It was always just a hobby for them and something they would do for fun on the weekends. Once they had their first child they decided to take it more seriously to allow Emilee to stay home with their son. They jumped right in to starting their own business and now it has really taken off. They wouldn’t say it was easy but the journey so far has been so worth it. With two kids under two and Emilee able to stay home they are hoping to get Adrian home from his sales job to focus on wedding photography full time. Their biggest motivator is to have more time and freedom home with their children and being together as a family.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would start at one of our favorite breakfast spots in Parker, Doug’s Diner. They have the best homemade jam made with fresh fruit!! Then we would take them to play pickleball, it doesn’t matter the court, at least for us, they are everywhere. We love to walk around the mall so you can never fail with a trip to Park Meadows for a little shopping. For dinner a must go to is Las Potrancas in Parker if you like good Mexican food.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Huge shoutout to a couple of amazing mentors in the photography world who have poured into us with nothing but kindness and honesty. Sarah Hall and Api Hemi, you didn’t have to take the time to share your wisdom, answer our questions, and let us learn from your journey, but you did. We feel so blessed to have made such amazing friends in this community who support us.
