Meet Emily McAllister | Certified Life Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily McAllister and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emily, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have spent years trying to figure myself out and find tools for showing up in the world with intention. When I learned about Life Coaching and hired my own coach, I was amazed by how much I grew. I was hired to a health coaching program focused on diabetes prevention almost six years ago and working with clients was incredibly rewarding. I knew this was a path where I could help others and be a contributor to improving our world. I truly believe that when we as humans have better tools and skills we can show up better for ourselves and others. I knew I wanted to branch out on my own and found a coaching certification program ( Clarity Point) that focused on science-backed tools, that resonated with what I was seeing in our world. The entire premise that I coach is about learning where we are in fear and utilizing skills to move us to a place of trust and love. It seems simple and yet we all have years of subconscious programming that often shows up in us especially when we are in fear. As I looked for a niche to focus on, I eventually came to realize that helping the LGBTQIA+ community, especially within faith communities was a place I could show up both as an ally and as a person committed to helping individuals and families. The best part was that my best friend and fellow coach decided to join me and we started our business together. We are unveiling a new name coming up in a few weeks Walk Fearlessly Coaching LLC and we are so excited about what we can do in helping others to better understand themselves and show up in love with this bright, beautiful, rainbow community.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have searched and learned a lot about coaching practices over the years and for me the program we coach and our company Walk Fearlessly Coaching LLC stands out because it is really about offering tools and helping people to learn to trust themselves. Somewhere along the line most of us, look to external forces in figuring out decisions, and while finding credible sources for input is really important, learning to make decisions outside of echo chambers is crucial for intentional living. This program is about learning how to trust your own self and instincts. It is about learning to see where you are in fear and knowing how to move to more thoughtful and intentional spaces. When we do that we can then help to build powerful communities.
This journey for me is about constantly practicing what I preach. Most recently, we had a conflict come up with our branding and name. I found myself in a lot of fear, worried about the impact of changing, and losing momentum since we are a relatively new company. That type of fear can be paralyzing. So I worked on figuring out how moving forward with trust could help me to progress. Trusting myself, my ability and my future help me to make good decisions.
Now I am looking forward to seeing what will come from these new changes. I have worked on the belief that everything is actually the Universe conspiring in my favor, and it really has changed everything for me. It doesn’t mean I don’t struggle, worry, grieve or feel challenged. I am just better able to navigate to productive places through those challenges with the tools I have and that our company offers.
I am most excited about the new Teen Programs we are doing. I love working with teens and we just started teen group sessions focused on youth who are anxious. In the fall we will be starting teen groups for LGBTQIA+ youth, to help them find ways to love themselves and trust their journeys. We will also be starting, groups for parents of LGBTQIA+ youth.
One of the things I love doing right now is our podcast. Season 3 will be starting in October and the Walk Fearlessly Podcast has useful information, amazing guests and thoughtful ideas to help everyone to move from fear to a place of love and trust.
Can you imagine if each individual in our world worked on just moving from fear to love? What could that do for our children’s safety, the direction of our country, and the stability of our society?
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I absolutely love living in Colorado. As a transplant, it has been so fun for me to learn about our amazing state over the last 10 years. Some of my favorite activities for guests are: Taking a picnic dinner to the Aurora Reservoir in the evening and kayaking. The Denver Botanical gardens are such an amazing part of the downtown area and a great place to spend the afternoon. I also love going to the Botanical Gardens at Chatfield for lunch or an alfresco dinner. I love the mountains, but when I am looking for a quick trail to hike on, I usually head to Castlewood Canyon State Park. It is close and has beautiful trails, without hordes of people. Washington Park is a favorite place of mine to spend an afternoon reading and people-watching. Some of my favorite spots to eat are Bob’s Atomic Burgers in Golden, CO. True Foods in Denver. Butterfields Ice Cream in Parker, CO has amazing flavors weekly. My favorite is the peach ice cream mixed with a scoop of cinnamon, it is like eating peach cobbler. I love the shops in Highlands Square and especially West Side Books. It is so fun to wander those aisles in search of a new treasure.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I know for certain I am here in this place today, because of the support of my family. My three kids and husband are a big part of this journey. They believe in this dream and help me to stay motivated. I also want to shout out to my mentor, coach, and friend Kim Giles. She created the Clarity Point program and has helped thousands of people to find ways to move from fear to intention, trust, and love. Most of all I am beyond thankful for my friend and business partner Sarah Matthews. She is a brilliant person who helps balance my crazy ideas and reminds me daily why we decided to jump on this path.
