Meet Enitza Templeton | Content Creator & Host of Emerging Motherhood Podcast

We had the good fortune of connecting with Enitza Templeton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Enitza, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision I have had to make was deciding to go ahead with a divorce and become a single mother to 4 kids, one with a disability and congenital heart disease with no family or friends nearby. I had been a faithful trad wife for 10 years cooking all the meals from scratch, cloth diapering my babies, tending to my families every need and want. I felt like I was at a point in life where I had to decide to choose my happiness or the happiness of everyone else around me. I went into marriage hopeful and excited to finally be fulfilled and feel complete by starting a family. I didn’t realize that I was bought into the lie that once I found my person, we would have kids, everything would fall into place and we would live happily ever after. I heard marriage takes work and I was willing to do anything except sacrifice myself and it felt like that was the only way to truly make the marriage work and I wasn’t willing to go that far. I realized I needed to take a stand for myself and for my children to show them mommy is more than just the cook and housecleaner.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started creating content in 2019 when I started the divorce process. I was using it more as an online journal thinking no one was really going to watch what I created but slowly the followers starting coming and women started reaching out with similar stories and it just snowballed from there. It has grown to about 250k online followers across platforms and extended outside of social media into mainstream articles and tv show appearances to discuss the issue of women realizing they deserve to be happy too. It was easy in the sense that the content I was creating was just me being vulnerable about the process. I did a lot of crying on the internet but I was at my rock bottom in life so I didn’t care about being “cringe” I just needed support and a community. As I grew and overcame personal challenges I kept sharing the content and continued being vulnerable and it began inspiring women to make similar changes in their life and it just continued to grow. I learned a lot about personal strength and how much we can overcome if we just stay focused on the end goal. Women are raised to believe that they are powerless and need a big strong man to swoop in and save them but I have learned that is not true. Women have everything they need to create the life they dream of and a romantic partner is not the end all be all of happiness. Now looking back, I am so proud of what Emerging Motherhood has grown into and excited to grow more providing resources for women looking to take back the power and control of their lives.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I absolutley love when I get the chance to show off our beautiful state to someone who has never been! There are some classic Colorado things we need to do. Start out with breakfast burritos from Santiago’s or Mama Sol Cocina. We would definitely take a little drive to Georgetown to get some nice mountain views without going too far out, There is a little dispensary, Rocky Mountain Organics I love in the Black Hawk area we would stop at for some great prerolls. Then on the way home a cute little Mexican restaurant Kalaka Mexican Kitchen for their trash can nachos, Next would be breakfast at Denver Biscuit Company, followed by exploring the city taking a walk down South Broadway to see all the little boutiques and thrift stores. Lunch at Historians for their $6 burger, fries and beer deal, catch a cabaret show at Lannie’s Clocktower later that night and maybe finish back on South Broadway at Adrift Tiki Bar. If its summer I love to go to the South Pearl Street Farmers Market and then a slice of pizza from Sexy Pizza and maybe a Rockies game and definately Bonnie Brae ice cream to end any fun day!!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My online community of friends has been my saving grace through this journey. The women online have lifted me up and encouraged me when I was navigating the hardest parts of this journey and I am forever thankful for them.
