Meet Eric Dorninger ND, LAc | Naturopathic Doctor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Eric Dorninger ND, LAc and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eric, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Honesty, integrity and caring about getting results for those afflicted with chronic, mystery and unresolved illness. Over the years we constantly self-evaluate better ways to discover the underlying causes of illness. We have changed the healthcare paradigm from “What you have” to “Why you have” so we can change the patient’s experience from trial and error medicine to medicine and healthcare that addresses the true underlying causes of why.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
In 2005, we founded Roots and Branches Integrative Health Care, a clinic dedicated to “Mystery Illness” where we focus on elucidating the underlying causes of unrelenting chronic illness. Dr. Dorninger is not concerned with what you have as much as he is with why you have it. He has dedicated his professional life to a deeper understanding of
differential diagnosis based in the tradition of “Remove Obstacles to Cure.”
We are proud of providing relentlessly thorough healthcare that focuses on solving and resolving healthcare issues and graduating patients form their illness. Through a deep understanding and application of the basic sciences (anatomy, physiology, biochemistry) and establishing a healthcare infrastructure that uses validated labs and imaging to confirm potential underlying causes we formulate treatment plans that produce results.
Sticking to the Principles of Naturopathic Medicine and the Therapeutic Order is what kept our mission/business on track.
Doing things right is never easy. Work ethic, determination, surrounding yourself with team members that have different and better skill sets for accomplishing objectives and having a clear vision of the problems and roadblocks to getting results in healthcare. The patient will lead the revolution on demanding healthcare that actually solves problems instead of the current healthcare model that manages disease and symptoms.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A mix of food, fun, nature and music would be on the agenda.
Denver Nuggets tickets, a Red Rocks show if in season, a CU Buff’s game, some tree skiing and powder hunt, a stay at Peak 8 in Breck with some mountain biking or shredding pow, pow, a kick boxing class at Bang Ludwig or a roll at Flatirons Jiu Jitsu, then over to the Boulder Creek for tubing or the Rez for some wake skating,., Bamboo sushi for a Green Machine, then over to 54Thrity Rooftop for a cocktail and then rip some Lime scooters over to Heaven in Rino for a Dairy free ice cream or espresso and then crash at Catbird hotel. Last month we hit Lil Wayne and Coach Prime’s Black and Gold Party for some deep bass and booty shakin’.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am blessed to have the most incredible mentors in life and work. Dr. Bill Blanchet MD in Boulder Colorado taught me everything I know about how to identify, treat and prevent heart disease, heart attack and strokes and is responsible for Boulder County being the lowest rate of heart attacks in the entire union. Dr. Ritchie Shoemaker, MD is the heroic discoverer of biotoxin illness (also known as CIRS – Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome) and is why me and my family are healthy. Both these Gentlemen have preserved my soul in medicine and often reinspire the joy of doing a thorough job and watching the chronically ill graduate to a productive, creative, potent life. Dr. Alan Gaby MD, was my first influence on critically evaluating medical literature and challenging everything. Letitia Watrous ND and Jared Zeff ND stoked my deep connection to natural law and the principles of Naturopathic medicine. Dr. Lise Altschuler ND showed me the sweet symphony of blending the best of conventional and natural medicine while Tori Hudson ND blended the best of published research and clinical experience. Patrick Donavan ND demonstrated the best of rigorous clinical skills and understanding the importance of knowing your patients whereas Dirk Powell ND animated endocrinology. Dr. Mitchell ND and Joe Pizornno ND recognized the need to teach the next generation. Dr. Datis Kharazian DC, PhD brought it all together. Thanks to my inspiring friends and classmates who’s humor, soul , diligence and obsession to do better still keep me going.
