We had the good fortune of connecting with Eric Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eric, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Well I always knew I wanted to coach basketball, I have been around the game since I was two years old. My goal was to share the knowledge I have for basketball with the kids in my town. The opportunity presented itself so we created Wyoming Premier Hoops an organization for the youth to be able to travel and play against other teams in the region. The main thought behind always began with the youth and what could be done to help bring the sports to the forefront of our community.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The ultimate goal is to be apart of changing the culture of basketball in the area and help kids play basketball at their next level.
We believe in shaping well-rounded individuals. By supporting us, you contribute to the personal growth of these athletes, preparing them not only for the game but also for life. Our program aims to bridge the gap between high school and college. With your assistance, we can guide players toward NAIA, JUCO, DIII, DII, or DI institutions. Summer is a critical period for basketball development. As the school season kicks off in November, our focus during these months is to propel players closer to their college dreams. We’re building more than a team; we’re creating an environment where kids are thrilled to participate and excel. Every player who joins our program takes a step toward college. Whether they aspire to play at the highest level or seek a well-rounded education, we’re here to guide them

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Coors Field would be the first place I would take a friend. Whenever I have time it’s my favorite place to go watch the Rockies and enjoy the great atmosphere it brings. I’m a sports guy so Blue Sport Stable is another place I would take a friend great facility and my team has won a lot of games there as well. And to end the week off a Broncos game my favorite football team and the crowd is electric in the stadium that’s how I would show a friend the city for the best time ever.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The players and parents it starts with them from traveling for hours to games to supporting the kids . The sponsors of our team Red Willow Restaurant, Weber Consulting, Shoshone Rose Casino, and also Ruby Roustabout Services LLC. there’s many more that have shown support in the growth of the program. Without them our season does not function and go as smooth as it has this summer.
