We had the good fortune of connecting with Erica Rasmussen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erica, how does your business help the community?
I inspire people to be better versions of themselves! I inspire teams to become better, together!
As a life balance enthusiast, certified Oola Life Coach, Oola Ambassador and speaker, I get the unique opportunity to help people dream bigger! Too often, we get living in the fast lane or accustomed to habits. But, when we take daily action steps toward achieving goals, new habits form, new lifestyles can be created, and ultimately pursuit of better balance, growth and purpose are how I help people!
We all have so much within us to offer the world. Discovering those gifts to best use them is something we are all capable of. Whether it’s teaching life balance courses at my local university, collaborating with a company’s leadership team to be more goal oriented, having a day-long seminar to create a new team leadership language, coaching groups and individuals, or inspiring a group of people through a speaking engagement or workshop, my mission in life is making a positive impact on people so they can live better lives. That truly sets my heart on fire!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have a positive energy about me that is inspiring and uplifting. My heart for people shines when I help people see the light within them. I believe in people, and I help people believe in themselves! Plus, I don’t just coach and speak about life balance, goalsetting, and living a life of purpose – I truly live what I inspire others to do. I literally feel like a professional goal getter. And, by me working on my own goals, I bring people along with me in my journey to help them inspire their own!
My life was completely unbalanced when I decided to embark on a quest to become a life balance coach. I was in the midst of overcoming a traumatic pregnancy. Fortunately, my daughter was and still is healthy, but as a Mom of two toddlers who had just faced a career-change, I was overweight and out of shape. But, I had a lot of ambition!!! I knew I had more to offer this world. I wanted to tap into that untapped potential and truly shine my light in a way that made a positive impact on the world.
So, I pursued an Oola Life Coach certification and was immediately captivated by how mapping out my priorities and actually pursing them could truly change my life, and the lives of those I know. Little did I know that I’d soon be traveling the country making a positive impact on those I’d never met before!
I truly have found my calling. My mission is to inspire people to make positive changes in their lives. I want individuals, groups, teams – everyone I get to engage with – to see the beautiful light they have to shine in this world, and make the steps they need to make to progress toward shining as bright as they can. That’s purpose. That’s passion. That’s impact. We all have so much we can offer, and it’s time for more people to amplify that!
When I began my pursuit of a life coaching certification, I definitely had work to do in my own life. I realized I needed to make some pretty big changes in the areas of fitness, finance, family, faith, friends, field (career) – all while balancing fun. I have been really disciplined with my path forward in pursuit of better balance, and I’ve come up against some big challenges. But, what I’ve learned is every ounce of effort I am putting toward making improvements in my life does pay off. We have setbacks, we have to reprioritize, and we have to maintain discipline and focus on what we truly want to achieve.
Getting outside of my comfort zone and stepping into new paths, new opportunities, and challenging myself to grow has been such a fun journey. I truly believe that growth is perpetual. We need to stay accountable to ourselves. But, we also can’t expect ourselves to do that alone. That’s where I come into play as a coach, a speaker, and someone who has had their own transformational journey of positive change to help people map out and navigate their own paths!
When we truly focus on our priorities, we begin living life by design and not default. And, in my opinion, that is where the magic happens! We need to continue to stoke that fire. That’s why having a coach for accountability is really helpful. Just as someone who may need a bit more support at the gym can hire a personal trainer, having a life coach to help ignite the fire within is truly a powerful investment for those ready for positive change!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in such a beautiful area of Colorado. Gunnison-Crested Butte is remarkable every season!
Summer: We would fish the gold medal waters of the Gunnison River, camp along the Blue Mesa Reservoir, see a concert at I Bar Ranch, enjoy apps and a beverage on the Dive patio in downtown Gunnison, have some of the best pizza in the world at the Secret Stash in Crested Butte, hike among wildflowers, jeep amid the West Elk Wilderness and see mountains for miles, and remain fueled up with Camp 4 Coffee! And, if we really felt adventurous, we’d Jeep over Paradise Divide past Devil’s Punchbowl and see the Crystal Mill before popping into Marble for some barbeque!
Other Seasons: Fall hikes or driving along Kebler Pass is a “do not miss,” with Colorado’s largest aspen grove! Winter can be like living in a snow globe! I’d take people ice fishing because it’s something different and often a new experience. However, snowmobiling and skiing are both ways to explore the mountains. Springtime may be our quietest time, which is nice for peaceful hikes, bike rides, and a little bit more elbow room on the river while fishing!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Dr. David Braun, I call him “Dave.” He is the co-founder of Oola Life, Inc. Oola started with a book, a nationwide dream collection tour where people put stickers on a VW bus, and is now a global initiative to positively inspire people to Live Differently. Dave is one of my mentors, my biggest cheerleaders, and someone who has truly helped me dream bigger and get really laser focused on my own vision. He also has helped inspire me to conquer my fitness journey. Now down over 70 pounds from my highest weight, I’m on a mission to start and finish a running race in all 50 states in my lifetime. Who will be running my first half marathon with me? Dave. That’s a true mentor! I have never had someone in my life believe in me more than Dr. Dave!
