We had the good fortune of connecting with Glynis Albright and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Glynis, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am originally from New Orleans, LA. I come from a background of preparing and eating good food.

While in college, because I loved to cook, most of my friends knew that I’d have a delicious meal prepared if they visited my apartment to study or just hang out. I was raised to use only the best ingredients, season well without relying on sugar and salt for flavor, and to feed everyone who visited.

Today, I take pride in being able to say that all of these elements were considered when creating my Glynis’ Products gourmet food line. My integrity won’t allow me to distribute less than the best.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I don’t consider myself to be a chef. Food is chemistry and art to me.

I think what sets me apart from others is how my foods are created. I use all wholesome ingredients; I don’t use artificial sweeteners; I rely on fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices as the core for my foods; and I believe in flavor being the most dominant experience.

I started out in the medical field. Fast forwarding to age 35, I was diagnosed with a rare blood disease that forced me to think seriously about my diet and lifestyle. It became my purpose: to share with others the importance of nutrition for healing.

I began to create treats that were instrumental in healing myself others who were also being challenged. This turned into a business that offered a service for not only those with leukemia but also various health challenges.

I began to study and researched ways to help as many people as I could. Over time, I had created 6 different comfort food lines with health and wellness being the catalyst.

I want the world to know that I am a living testimony. Because I am a walking miracle, I have been traveling the world, sharing my story and my delectable creations.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Let me be honest, when my friends and family come to town, they are here to be catered to. That’s what I do. They kick back and enjoy everything that I have prepared right in the comfort of my home.

From my immediate family members to close friends to distant relatives to celebrities — they come here to relax, eat, drink and bond.

Musical artists have even routed their tours to come through Castle Rock so they can spend the day with me and my family.

The basement of my home becomes a restaurant, the outdoor area of my property becomes a resort, and my home becomes theirs for relaxation and total chill.

Every now and then, we’ll have a meal at our country club but for the most part, our home is it!!

Cameras and cell phones are out away. My home becomes the ultimate hang out.

If by chance we just have to get out and enjoy the evening, here are some of our favorite places:
-Trestle’s Restaurant in Castle Rock
-Sierra’s in LoneTree
-LoneTree Art Center for a good musical, play or concert
-we have to take a drive into Denver and spend the day at The Crawford. The restaurants inside are just as stellar as the rooms themselves.
-the visit wouldn’t be complete without a day of shopping at the Castle Rock Outlet Mall or Park Meadows Mall.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, shout out to the matriarchs of my lineage. My great-grandmother, my grandmother, my Mother and her youngest sister, my Aunt Margaret. Although they were Pastors and teachers, they also knew how to throw down in the kitchen. The community where we lived in New Orleans all knew as well.

Secondly, thanks to Julie Childs and Graham Kerr. Those two chefs were my television icons. While kids were outside playing, I found joy in watching and learning from them. They inspired me to have the courage to cook and bake meals that were sometimes difficult for the average 10-year-old.
