Meet Gus Kölndorfer | Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Gus Kölndorfer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gus, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Focus and Determination, because in the Music Business if you aren’t Focused you will not give 100% of your performance. This makes all the difference in Studio Recording, on the Stage playing and even when you are at home Practicing. You need to be Focused to give your 100% always. Determination is important cuz even with Focus sometimes some projects, Bands, contracts, etc , don’t work (cuz some things don’t depend just on you). So you need be determined to Get what you want because most of time you don’t get what you want in the first try.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m pretty proud about my capacity to Accept Opinions, Adapt and Learn. Those three points help me along my career to work with different bands, musicians, producers, managers, agents and brands. Accepting opinions is really important to work with new people. You need to accept what a Band, Producer, Agent or Brand wants to tell about yourself or what they want from You. If not, you will not work with them.
Adaptation is very important cuz I work with different people from all over the world. In my case, I worked with Bands and producers from South America, North America and Europe. They all have different processes and work methods so you need to adapt yourself to work with different people all the time.
And of course Learning is paramount, You can’t be cocky, don’t matter how good you are. Every day you’re able to learn something from someone that you can apply to your personal life or career.
With those 3 things I was able to open a lot of Doors in my Life and Career. I always have new challenges, but I like it cuz it gives me the chance to improve myself and learn more.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take my friend on a Hike. One of my Favorite places to Hike is Saint Mary’s Glacier I definitely would take my friend to a Show at Red Rocks and drag them to eat in one of my favorite restaurants in Colorado, Aroma do Brasil for some Amazing authentic Brazilian Food.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Family. I can say that’s the only luck I was born with (the rest was all hard work). My Parents and my Brother always support me in everything I choose to do in my life. Since my Pro Sport Career in the South America Sport Leagues to when I decided to be a Musician. Even today I always show them the new tracks I’m recording, the bands I’m touring with or joining because their opinion always counts. And a special Thanks to Kiko, Jose Francisco C. Neto. He is one of my best friends and my guitar teacher/mentor. When I decided to drop my Athlete Career and become a Musician He was the one who showed me the way and the first steps.
