We had the good fortune of connecting with gv_mimi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi gv_mimi, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I came from a musical background where music was my only solace. It was the only thing that made sense. So I pursued music as my main career and obtained a degree in Music Education. After a good number of years as a Band Director, I decided to also take up broadcasting on Twitch as a second path where I could express myself in different ways as well as incorporate my musical background. Being able to combine both of these together became my true passion in the end. Throughout my early days of musical training, performing my music was a thing that I enjoyed the most, but once I became a Band Director, performance was definitely lacking in my life. So I’m glad that I came across streaming and content creating because it gave me an outlet to perform for an audience and to express in a different creative way.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Either than my background as a Music Educator, I stream on twitch and create content around Challenge Runs and variety of playthroughs of video games such as the Legend of Zelda Series and the Mario Series. I have beaten Breath of the Wild using an Ocarina as a controller as well as Only Up, a difficult 3D platformer, with a recorder as a controller. And I’m currently in the process of beating Tears of the Kingdom using an Ocarina as a controller. It’s taken me 3 years of content creating to get to where I am now and I still feel like there is still more to explore and learn in the content creation space. Being a female content creator in the video gaming industry has certainly had its hurdles considering the treatment women/femme presenting people receive in this space. I’ve been able to push past that and continue to overcome and make history through challenge content and show others that women can create challenging content just like anybody else doesn’t matter their background or gender.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to some of the local coffee shops in the Denver area as well take them around to Denver’s Botanical Garden for a nice walk around beautiful plants. I would also take them for a local hike as well as maybe a trip to the Denver zoo.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shoutout to the friends I’ve made on Twitch who have continuously encouraged me and given me advice in the content creating world. And also a shoutout to the community I’ve cultivated for continuing to support me in streaming and the content creating space.
