Meet Heidi Schaer | Co-Owner of Yardables

We had the good fortune of connecting with Heidi Schaer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Heidi, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My husband and I have always wanted to start our own business. Working together and being able to focus on our family has always been the goal. We have just been trying to decide on the right business to move forward with. The idea of Yardables came from my husband being an inflatable decoration enthusiast and maybe a bit obsessed. One day I thought, if we are going to keep buying them, then we should make them available to everyone and rent them out.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been working in Marketing and Project Management since 2009. My career started while I was getting my degree in Business Marketing. I took a second job as a Marketing Clerk to try and break into the Marketing industry, that’s where I met my mentor. She helped me grow and learn so many new skills. She pushed me to grow in my career and build confidence with my skills while I worked for her and long after.

My career changed once we started having children, I stayed home with them and started contract work. Our business is my work focus now and I am so proud of us for taking the risk. I am very excited to watch it grow and become our full-time family business.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family! My husband is so supportive of all of my ideas and career choices. Quitting my job as a Marketing Manager when we had our son was scary and hard, but he did everything he could to make it easier for me.
