We had the good fortune of connecting with Holly Cook and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Holly, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Well I can’t take all the credit. First of all our store is an 1896 old trading post that has had many life’s. In the 70″s Bob Webb bought the land and the store and turned into a 3.2 beer bar. Was super popular…but they were not able to renew or up grade their liquor license. Our store started because Mardi Denny who ran the bar had a great idea! She said “Women will always buy clothes! So they started with wedding dresses and then grew from there. Listening to their customers as what they wanted. That was fifty years…I took over 5 years.  Our goal is to bring the best out of people by dressing them in like vintage clothing and to know their silhouette to dress our customers in clothes that make them look fabulous. Who doesn’t like dressing up? We sell more top hats then I could tell you. We always have new product coming in and we’ll we are the most magical store in Colorado! At least that is what our customers say! Check out or Media on FB and IG @masonvillemerc

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Holly Cook (myself) comes from a background with Ann Taylor/Ann Taylor Loft/Elie Tahari. I grew up in California in Huntington Beach to which I was going to Disneyland and Knottsberry Farm…I think this is why Masonville Mercantile was the perfect place for me to continue dressing up and helping people find and bring out their best out of themselves. You need an outfit for 1900’s, 1920s, 1940…That’s my specialty. I always say ” We can dress you for any adventure! The rest is up to you!”

We love being about to host Cyclist runs, Poker Runs, and our newest is the Toy Run for the Pharoahs Car Club September 18. We are always ready to help our Colorado community.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Mardi Denny daughter Melanie Patton was 2 years old when she moved into the building and with her husband Rodger Patton are partners with me, as well as my husband Bruce Cook. Together we are keeping Mardi’s Legacy going as well as staring our own! We are so grateful to all our customers who continue to shop with us! But most of all that we are able to help be that Oasis for cyclists and others, by providing what they need to continue their journey. We are more than just a clothing store!
