We had the good fortune of connecting with Idalia Ramos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Idalia, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
Usually people aren’t aware of how much knowledge you need to be able to work on the nail industry, most people think that doing nails is easy and anyone watching YouTube can do it. But working on the nail industry is more that that, it implies to know about anatomy, chemistry, disinfection protocol, and health. You need to know the different products, how they work, what is best for each client, and what you can and can’t do on someone’s feet or hands. Doing nails is not just glue a tip and apply acrylic on top, or wash feet and apply color on toes. To do nails you have to be a professional and have the knowledge to do it properly.

What should our readers know about your business?
I open my Nail salon on December 2016. it wasn’t easy to start a nail salon without clients but, I slowly started to getting some clientele, and with time people start realizing that my work was different than the discount nail shops. What is sets me apart, is that I care about the health of my clients nails and feet, I use quality products and I am constantly taking classes, I like to offer quality, comfort and safety to my clients. I am constantly trying to be better than what I was yesterday. What I have learned along the way is that I couldn’t compare to others, that everyone has their own style, I have learned that another nail tech is not my competition, I AM MY OWN COMPETITION. I have learned that on the nail industry we need to support each other. I want the world to know that I am a professional, that I have the knowledge to take care of their feet and hands, I want them to know that if I was capable of learn english, went to the nail school at 38 yrs old, open a nail salon, and have successful business, then you can do it too.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live on a very small community, however there are several restaurants that we can go out to eat like Happy Jack’s a barbecue restaurant, Taqueria Hernandez a Mexican restaurant, also if we want to go for a good drink then we should go to Blistie’s restaurant and Bar or to the Vet’s club bar, We also can go golfing at the city golf park or Ballyneal golf course. We can go to some of the lakes on the nearby cities.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family, without my husband, support and encouragement I would not be able to be where I am now. Also my kids that supports me and are patient with me while I am away from home because of work, my sister that she always help me staying with my kids when I need it.
