We had the good fortune of connecting with Kotryna Lamoyd and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kotryna, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I opened up PEACHCREAMPRINTS first on Etsy in September of 2020, before I opened up my own online website earlier this year. I was working at the same retail store job since high school and really wanted to pursue something more meaningful as I was beginning my college educational career at the time. With time to be home due to the pandemic, I happened to find some videos on YouTube showing other young, successful women running their stationery businesses. It didn’t take long for me to realize that I too could start a business surrounding whatever I love to create. Ever since I was a child, I would always be doodling on everything I could! From scraps of paper to corners of my homework assignments, there would always be some sort of tiny doodle on there. I never really considered myself an artist though and never pursued anything creatively before this business since I didn’t think “little” doodles could be seen as art or could be something I could pursue as a career. However, I knew that if I did not jump into this opportunity while I had the time to invest in it, I would have delayed or even never gone after this relatively new dream of mine. I took a chance at starting this business by learning how to do digital art, investing what I saved from my retail job into my materials & supplies, and just went for it!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
After growing PEACHCREAMPRINTS for nearly two years now, I definitely would consider myself an artist and creative in this community. When I first began teaching myself how to do digital art and use these digital illustration programs, it definitely was a challenge. I never have used digital mediums for creating art, and only knew how to doodle on paper or canvases with pens and acrylic paints. I had to dedicate a lot of time prior to promoting my business and products online to teach myself how to create art digitally and also find what my style is going to be. During this time practicing, learning, and growing as an artist is where I was able to find my style, which I believe sets me apart from other stationery and apparel businesses.

As my business continues to grow, I would love for the world to know that PEACHCREAMPRINTS is a brand that will always promote positivity, vibrancy, and an overall message of being kind and supportive to those around you. I want people to know that I create products that express who I am as a person, which hopefully has the ripple effect of inspiring and bringing joy to those who use them. One quick look at my social media page and you will be able to see my extensive color palette! I enjoy creating things that are colorful and stand out to those scrolling by. From sticker flakes to tote bags to glass mugs, I try to make my products that are cute and colorful to look at, but also functional for everyday use! My push for more positivity and kindness is seen in a lot of my products that contain quotes, which definitely have been inspired by my studies as a psychology minor. I have learned the importance of being kind to yourself and others, and I definitely believe those messages of positivity can never be spread enough.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I was born and raised in Orange County, California, so whenever I have anyone visiting SOCAL, we are hitting all the popular spots! We definitely would be stopping by all of my favorite beaches, with many of them being along the coast near Laguna Beach since the water and views are just stunning out there. The most beautiful nature is all around us here in this area of California, so squeezing in some hikes, bike rides, and walks in the hills and nature preserves here is a must. When in California, you obviously need to bring your bestie to an In N Out, a staple here and a stereotype of Californians that I will be more than happy to uphold. I would take my best friend around all my favorite local coffee shops and boutiques near my university for some of the most delicious iced coffees and perfect photo spots. In my free time, I typically love to drive around with my friends, lounge around by a pool, or get inspired by all these local things for future designs for my business. If my friend wouldn’t want to just relax in a quiet spot, there is always Disneyland haha!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to thank everyone in my personal and digital life who has continuously supported my journey with this business! I want to thank my mom, who helped me invest in the very beginning of my business and continues to show me the importance of education and going after my passions. I want to thank my boyfriend, Levi, who has always continued to lift me up, support me through it all, and tell me to keep chasing this dream of mine. Big thanks to my sister Emilia and all of my friends who have been so supportive in promoting and modeling my products and business ideas. Lastly, I want to thank all of my friends, supporters, and role models on my social media platforms! We all know how important social media is for a business’s growth, and without you all engaging, supporting, and inspiring my business, I wouldn’t be able to be where I am today!
