We had the good fortune of connecting with Izi Aragon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Izi, how do you think about risk?
Risk has always been a pivotal factor in my journey as an Aesthetician. One of the biggest risks I took was making the decision to pursue my passion for skincare right out of High School by enrolling directly into a Technical College to study Aesthetics. I then decided to create my own LLC and work for myself in my own little Day Spa. I chose to follow a dream that I knew would require immense dedication and perseverance. But I realized that chasing after a passion often involves taking leaps of faith, even when the outcome isn’t guaranteed.
The journey wasn’t always easy. It took time, consistency, and a commitment to personal growth to hone my skills and build my career. There were moments of doubt, but every small success—whether it was mastering a new technique or gaining a loyal client—fueled my determination. Risk, for me, meant betting on myself and trusting that with hard work, I could create a career in a field that I am truly passionate about. In the end, taking that initial risk helped shape not just my career but my outlook on life. I’ve learned that growth often lies outside of comfort zones, and each risk has opened new doors and opportunities that have allowed me to grow both professionally and personally.
Six years later, I’m proud to say that I’m still in business and thriving, still working for myself and continuing to push boundaries. I feel incredibly fortunate to have turned my passion into a sustainable career, but I also know that it’s been my determination and willingness to keep taking risks that got me here. Another huge risk for me was expanding my small business to Los Angeles, where I joined forces with my boyfriend to open a tattoo shop, and committing to quarterly travels to CO and CA. Oxford Circle Tattoo & Permanent Makeup is truly an amazing life changing experience. This new chapter has been both exciting and challenging, but it’s a testament to the fact that growth never stops. I’m excited for what lies ahead and committed to keep evolving, learning, and embracing new opportunities.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career as an Aesthetician has been a deeply rewarding yet challenging journey. What sets me apart is my dedication to personalized care and the genuine relationships I build with my clients. Skincare is not just a service to me; it’s a craft that involves more than technical skills. It requires understanding people’s individual needs on a deeper level. I specialize in treatments such as dermaplaning, and microdermabrasion, but what I’m most proud of is the trust my clients have in me because I take the time to listen and customize every experience.
One of the most exciting milestones in my career was expanding my business to Los Angeles. After years of refining my skills and growing my client base, I took a significant risk by joining forces with my boyfriend to open a tattoo shop alongside my aesthetic services. This decision wasn’t easy—there were so many unknowns, from navigating the logistics to adjusting to a new market. However, this move was motivated by a desire to challenge myself and grow as a business owner. The transition demanded patience and the ability to adjust quickly to new situations. I had to develop new skills like effective time management and be open to continuous learning to handle the inevitable challenges that arose. It wasn’t just about multitasking—it was about embracing the changes and knowing that each challenge was an opportunity for growth.
The road has been far from easy. Starting over in a new city, especially one as competitive as Los Angeles, came with its own set of challenges. Financial pressures and building a client base from scratch were difficult, but I learned to take it one step at a time. I realized that small, consistent progress leads to bigger victories. Each obstacle taught me something valuable—whether it was refining my marketing strategies or deepening my commitment to excellent service.
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that success takes time and perseverance. There’s no shortcut, but the journey itself is what shapes you. I want the world to know that my brand isn’t just about delivering great skincare treatments; it’s about the passion I’ve poured into building something meaningful. My goal is to help people feel their best from the inside out, and that’s what keeps me excited to grow and evolve in this industry.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting Denver, I’d start the day with breakfast in the Sunnyside neighborhood—great food and a cozy vibe to kick things off. After that, we’d head over to South Broadway for some vintage shopping and maybe stop for a few drinks at one of the cool local spots. To end the day in style, we’d have dinner at El Five, which has one of the best views of the city. It’s the perfect spot to soak in Denver’s skyline while enjoying amazing food.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to take a moment to highlight the incredible team at Oxford Circle Tattoo in Los Angeles. This amazing shop is not only a hub for amazing tattoo artistry but also a vibrant space that celebrates creativity across multiple mediums. With their annual art events, and a roster of talented tattoo artists from around the globe, they truly embody the spirit of artistic collaboration. As they plan to travel across the United States, I can’t wait to see the inspiration and talent they bring to each new location. I feel fortunate to be a part of such a dynamic, collaborative, and uplifting community.
