We had the good fortune of connecting with Jackie Sagum, M.S., L.Ac., Dipl. OM, NCCAOM and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jackie, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
One thing most people don’t realize about acupuncture and herbal medicine is how effectively they bridge ancient practices with modern, evidence-based protocols. For instance, when I work with fertility clients, I’m not just using techniques that have been passed down for thousands of years, I’m also integrating current research on hormone regulation, blood flow, and stress reduction to optimize outcomes. I’ve had clients who felt they’d tried everything to conceive, but after incorporating acupuncture and targeted herbal protocols, they not only saw measurable improvements in hormone levels but also experienced successful pregnancies. It’s powerful to witness how this blend of tradition and science can lead to real, life-changing results!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Modern Oriental Medicine is where ancient practices meet modern, evidence-based protocols. I like to say, “We bring the ancient way to the modern day.”

I specialize in acupuncture, and adjunct therapies like electrical stimulation, moxibustion, cupping, herbal medicine, and AcuGraph analysis. My focus areas include fertility (natural, IUI/IVF/FET Day), pregnancy, postpartum recovery, menopause, hormone regulation, anxiety, insomnia and general wellness.

What sets my practice apart is the way I blend time-tested techniques with contemporary research to create targeted, effective treatment plans. I use real, tangible markers of progress, so clients know what to expect and can see and feel their results over time. I’m on the board of Colorado Fertility Advocates, a non profit dedicated to increasing education around reproductive and fertility care for all Coloradans. I also provide on-site acupuncture for FET day (frozen embryo transfer) at Conceptions Reproductive Associates and Denver Fertility Care. Being granted access to perform acupuncture within respected fertility clinics is an incredible privilege. To be trusted in these environments means everything to me and I’m honored to hold space in such a meaningful way.

What I’m most proud of are the success stories: Like the fertility client who came in feeling hopeless, but over time, watched her cycles regulate, her hormones rebalance, and eventually became pregnant. I supported her through labor prep, post-partum care, and had the joy of meeting her sweet baby on the other side. Or the clients with chronic conditions who rediscover what it feels like to have energy, can enjoy everything Colorado has to offer without pain, and experience peace of mind because they feel like themselves again.

These transformations are what keep me grounded and passionate.

Getting to this point wasn’t easy. I’ve faced my own challenges; experiences that taught me resilience, the value of community, the importance of staying flexible, trusting the process, and continually refining how I show up. The biggest lesson? Stay authentic. My practice is a reflection of who I am: Someone who honors ancient wisdom, values modern science, and believes deeply in personalized, intentional healing.

If there’s one thing I’d want the world to know about my work, it’s that this isn’t just a career. It’s a calling to help people reconnect with their bodies and reclaim their health in a deeply intentional way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Fun question!

Day 1:
I would start the weekend with a relaxed, upscale dinner at Hillstone in Cherry Creek. They have fresh seasonal dishes and live jazz music sometimes. Then head over to Meow Wolf for an immersive art experience created by local artists. If there’s time, catch an Avalanche, Nuggets, or Rockies game!

Day 2:
Breakfast at Urban Egg before heading over to Pindustry for games and a gorgeous rooftop area. Check out local breweries such as Resolute or Spice Trade. In the evening, head over to Halo Rooftop Bar for sunset cocktails and gorgeous mountain views.

Day 3:
Cherry Creek State Park for paddle boarding or kayaking/cycling. Try brunch in Cherry Creek and check out the Santa Fe art district. Head to Comedy Works to catch a fun show!

Day 4:
Hike near Morrison, have lunch at Rooftop Tavern and then head over to Red Rocks Amphitheater for an epic outdoor concert under the stars!

Days 5-7:
Hit the the mountains to ski, mountain bike, hike, camp, or just walk around the mountain towns! Winter Park, Breckenridge, Vail, and Keystone are my favorites.

Colorado is absolutely stunning and has so much to offer!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my kids, who are my biggest inspiration and the reason I push forward every day. They remind me of the importance of balance, resilience, and creating a life fueled by purpose. I also want to thank the clients who have trusted me with their healing journeys- witnessing their transformations keeps me passionate and inspired. And to the mentors and colleagues whose guidance shaped the practitioner I am today, your support and wisdom have been invaluable.
