We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacqui & Phil Angelo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jacqui & Phil, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Without question, the most important factor behind our success has been the relationships we’ve built. We are a small, husband-and-wife-owned business based in Conifer, and we focus solely on the Conifer, Evergreen, and Foothills communities. It is important to us to build strong, genuine connections—with our clients, our trades, our vendors, and the community. We always try to support local first, whether it’s hiring subcontractors or sourcing materials, and we regularly give back to local nonprofits monetarily and by volunteering our time. At the end of the day, we know we’re not just designing homes—we’re creating sanctuaries for the residents of our community. That kind of trust and connection is what drives everything we do.

What should our readers know about your business?
We are incredibly fortunate to live and work in a place where community truly means something. From the very beginning, the Conifer and Evergreen Chambers of Commerce, Mountain Women in Business, and the newly formed Women in Construction (WiNC) group have been part of our story. These organizations have not only provided opportunities for networking and collaboration but have also surrounded us with people who are generous with their time, their expertise, and their encouragement. The friendships and partnerships we’ve built through these groups have shaped our business and enriched our personal lives in ways we couldn’t have imagined when we first started out.

Supporting local is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that when we choose to work with local trades, artisans, and small businesses, we’re doing more than just hiring for a project — we’re investing in our neighbors and helping sustain the character of our mountain towns. Whenever possible, we partner with people from the Conifer, Evergreen, and 285 Corridor areas who we know, like, and trust. There’s a deep sense of pride in being able to recommend those same people to our clients, knowing they’ll deliver excellent work and keep that ripple of support moving through our community. Word of mouth is still the most powerful form of connection, and we love being a part of that exchange.

Giving back is also a guiding value for us. Every year, we award a $2,500 scholarship to a local student through Bootstraps — an incredible organization that helps students in our community pursue higher education and career training. We increase that scholarship amount as our business grows and look forward to the day we can offer multiple scholarships each year. We also take every opportunity to support the dozens of nonprofits that call our mountain communities home, whether it’s through donations, volunteer work, or lending our skills and resources to help them continue their important missions.

We know that no business — and no person — succeeds alone. Our journey is a reflection of the support, mentorship, and friendship we’ve received from so many people along the way. This community has given us so much, and we feel a deep responsibility and joy in giving back in every way we can. At the end of the day, the projects we complete, the homes we design, and the spaces we transform are just one part of our story — the other part is the people who have helped us get here and continue to inspire us every day.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My best friend isn’t really a city person, so we’d probably only spend one day in Denver – but we’d make it count! I’d take her to the Denver Botanic Gardens because even city-shy people can’t resist those beautiful displays, and of course Red Rocks is absolutely mandatory. You can’t visit Colorado without experiencing that iconic venue, even if there’s no concert happening.

For food in the city, I’m totally loyal to Steuben’s and Uncle – they’ve been my go-to spots for years and never disappoint. Steuben’s has that perfect comfort food vibe, while Uncle has the most amazing Ramen dishes.

But honestly, we’d spend most of our time in the mountains where she’d feel right at home. There’s nothing like camping near Twin Lakes – the views are absolutely stunning and it’s the kind of place that makes you remember why you love Colorado. We’d definitely do plenty of hiking and day trips, just soaking in all that mountain beauty.

I’d also want to show her some authentic Colorado history, so we’d hit up Leadville and the South Park Museum in Fairplay, and pass through Georgetown on the way back. These places really capture what makes this state special – the mining heritage and that genuine mountain town character.

And since we’d be spending time in the foothills, we’d grab brunch at Wildflower in Evergreen or Blackbird Cafe in Kittredge. Both have that perfect mountain atmosphere with incredible food to match.

There are so many more things to do, it would be a challenge to capture it all in one visit. No matter what, it’s all about that Colorado lifestyle – amazing outdoor adventures, great local food, and those breathtaking views that never get old.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
