We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaelene Deichl and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jaelene, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
As a mom, I believe the most important thing I’ve done (and continue to do) is teach them that they can be and do anything that they put their minds to.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When I experienced a traumatic birth, I knew that parents needed more support in their journey to become parents and through their postpartum time. I’ve dedicated my life to becoming someone that parents can trust with their births and beyond. I am a full spectrum doula, meaning I support everything from fertility to birth, breastfeeding and sleeping support, and even the unfortunate events of miscarriage and stillbirth. I also do placenta encapsulation, parenting classes, childbirth and breastfeeding classes, and one-on-one breastfeeding support. I have also started creating DNA Memory jewelry, made from a mother’s breastmilk, placenta, umbilical cord, cremation ashes, and more. I want to be able to support families in every stage of becoming the family that they want to be, and I do so in a very holistic and natural way. As a Master Herbalist, I strive to ensure that everything that is done in the most effective and natural way, and is done with love and understanding between the parties involved.
I am also a Doula Educator. I have been working hard on ensuring I am building courses to train doulas in the natural methods to support families, teaching them to be more Trauma-Informed to support clients that have struggled with traumatic pasts, and teach doulas to be more than they knew they could be.
Since becoming who I am now, I have been able to heal from my own past, been able to build a business I am proud of, and been able to help amazing families. I know that there is no such thing as an “expert” in anything, because as soon as something is starting to make sense, things change and update – just as the world around us continues to change!
With my business, I want to make sure that I am giving back to my community. Each month, I donate 20% of my profits to a new non-profit business in my community! My website displays each month’s nonprofit.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to all of the amazing shops that support natural health and healing – teach them how important it is to stop fueling your body with processed and unnecessary drugs and foods and how to fuel with with nature’s healing plants and healthy meats.
I would take them to farmers markets – supporting our community and small shops is what I love to do, and what my friends love to do too! There’s always something new and exciting, and I love being able to meet like-minded individuals in my communities.
I would take them hiking in Boulder – the views are amazing, not much can beat that!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I really could not be where I am today without my kids, my husband, and my parents. They’ve all been such amazing guides and rocks for me throughout every adventure I’ve taken in this career path.
