We had the good fortune of connecting with Jai Reese and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jai, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Journey With Jai is grounded in (re)-connecting people to the natural world and themselves as an expression of such. Engaging plant and fungi Medicines invites a return to ancient wisdoms of honoring one’s gifts within community, moving with transitions, celebrations, difficulties or traumas, and relating interdependently with one another and plant, animal, and element beings. My offerings and services of meditation, Cannabis and Psilocybin Journeys, and meditations support people in remembering how to connect to who they are in their parts of selves and wholeness — this invites new conversations, perspectives and creativity to ripple into communities. Ideally, people’s explorations of their own truths incrementally propels new ways of relating, behaving, and valuing outside of cultural dynamics embedded in logic, dominance, hegemonic normativity. I love supporting folks on the fringe and generators of authenticity.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
One lesson I have learned is that teachers and clients present themselves in synchronistic and informative timing. I am certain that each year that I offer Psychedelic Medicine Earth Journeys I will feel like I have not offered space as a Psychedelic Medicine Guide before. The reason being is that I know this work and this service is endless in terms of personal, interpersonal and collective learning. I will likely continuously integrate new insights I gather from friends, from working with clients, and from doing trainings such as Embodylab’s Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy. I do not see where I am with Journey With Jai as an end point but rather a point amidst many moments to be informed by. I find the vastness of this work and how it can shape both me and others exciting and incredibly enlivening.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
With a close friend in town I would enjoy showing them my and my housemate’s native plant and vegetable garden, Cheeseman Park, Valley View Hot Springs, a couple top secret hikes (haha), olde town Arvada, Tennyson Street, First Friday Gallery Stroll, lgbtqia+ shops, and restaurants such as Watercourse for the vegan nom and Linger for the omnivore options with a pretty rooftop city view. 🙂

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
As I continue to grow both internally and in business I definitely have loves and landscapes and to thank. I am grateful to past and present romantic partners and friends who ultimately did not allow me to escape any attempt at not birthing Journey With Jai. I am grateful to my wise mom who has engaged Journeying, unconditionally loved me, and given me feedback. I am grateful to guides such as my therapist, animals, and the Psychedelic Introvert who supported me in both difficulty and excitement as ideas flowed through me. I am grateful to high deserts, mountains, and river veins of Ute, Arapahoe and other’s lands for holding and leading me with affirming communications of the more than human world.
