We had the good fortune of connecting with Jake | Margaret Stechmeyer | Hotovec and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jake | Margaret, how does your business help the community?
The wonderful thing about Native Coffee Club is that we get to support our community and our world by working with roasters of integrity who understand the impact that their decisions make. Our coffee roasters are people and cause-driven. They research and seek out sustainable coffee growing practices and small farmers to support. They champion women and the best environmental production chain. We, in turn, get to support these fellow Coloradans by promoting and offering free drink cards to their stores and encouraging our members to support their neighbors when out for a cup of coffee. Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a Colorado native company that supports other Colorado companies. We love coffee and we love people. Native Coffee Club started with a handful of subscribers and has grown to hundreds across our state and nation. Through a steady growth-rate, we have been able to pivot to different systems when necessary while maintaining our bargaining power through our wholesale relationships. Because we don’t carry inventory or expensive overhead, we’ve been able to turn a profit quickly and efficiently. We love working with other small businesses to promote their stories and amplify their efforts. We’ve remained a team of two with other jobs and families and are excited to watch Native Coffee Club continue to grow and provide our members with the most responsibly sourced coffee and leading them back into their neighborhood cafes. Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well obviously we’d have to start at a coffee shop. Novo Coffee in West Highlands would be a great introduction to the Denver coffee scene. It’s in a beautiful location and has one of the best lattes I’ve ever had. We would then have to visit some Colorado scenery so we’d spend a day or two in the mountains probably around Boulder. Maybe Chautauqua Park. Food wise I would take them out to get some Pho in South West Denver. Pho 95 is one of my favorites but really any of the Pho places on Federal are amazing. For drinks I would probably head to Prost Brewing Co in LoHi for some craft beers. Prost has a patio with one of the best views of the city. It’s a great place to visit during the 4th of July for fireworks.Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We would like to dedicate this shoutout to our bestie, champion, and the glue that brought us together: Marietta Stechmeyer. Marietta you are relentlessly positive and your support is what keeps us going. Thank you for believing in us and keeping it light. We love you!
