We had the good fortune of connecting with James Angelicola and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi James, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking has played a major role in both my life and career. As an entrepreneur in the Lacrosse industry, I am constantly trying to be one step ahead of the game. Growing a company in a niche market from the ground up is a risk in itself, however can be very rewarding. Each and every day we are taking risks on running events in new and emerging markets. We have to take a chance on these markets and design our marketing strategy ourselves. Sometimes we are successful, sometimes we fail, it’s all part of the process. This is a process where all of the energy and hard work that you put into your craft will shine.

With trying to be one step ahead of the game, I have molded myself into an on-ice private skills instructor. I did not have any previous training, but what I did do was study those who are successful in the business relentlessly. In our world today, using social media platforms as your own marketing is risky but essential. Here you open up a new window of opportunity. I have been able to reach new markets, build relationships and create content that is essential for the audience.

My life does not consist of your typical 9-5 occupation but I have found that with hard work and perseverance you can reach your goals.

What should our readers know about your business?
Since 2011, Faceoff Factory has committed to learning, teaching, and growing the Face-off position in Lacrosse. Our goal then and now continues to be centered around developing the complete faceoff student. As the face-off position continues to change and develop, so does our curriculum. Our curriculum highlights techniques and details than have proven effective at the highest levels of lacrosse. We have made it our mission to help our students get to the next level of our sport.

The Lacrosse industry is a niche market, however a growing market. It was not easy to build Faceoff Factory from the ground up. We had to take our social media and following from nothing to something. What sets our business apart is that we are as selfless as possible to our students, customer satisfaction is our #1 priority. We have built a clientele that trusts us, that is what I am most proud of.

We have had to overcome many challenges being a small business. From cancellations to being shut down completely by COVID-19 protocols, we have always persevered. I have learned never to take what you’ve created for granted. Life is unpredictable and as a business owner you have to constantly roll with the punches. Never giving up is the key to success, you have to ride the highs and learn from the lows.

Our story is comprised of building on a sport that we love and a passion for hard work. We are proud of where we are today and I wouldn’t change a thing.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give credit to my partner and fellow entrepreneur, Joe Nardella. Together we took a leap of faith and have created something special. Joe has taught me the true definition of what it means to be a hard-working individual.
