We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamie Maynard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamie, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Well I am a scientist by training and was in the Biotech field for many years from early days at The Centers for Disease Control and on to other start up companies. Photography and music have always been a passion for me having grown up with music and art influences in my home as a kid. There came a point when the time demands of running a biotech company was taking me away from home for long periods of time and my children were growing up so quickly. I finally made a decision to move into a new career that would allow me to pursue my artistic interests in photography, film and music while having more time for my family. I started Magic Factor Media with a partner in 2012 focusing on video production and photography with work in the documentary space, outdoor industry, corporate and Real Estate. As a musician I wanted to integrate a music focused side of the business and Stone Cottage Studios was born in 2018. The studio is actually located in an early 1900’s stone cottage and we brought our expertise in audio and video production to support artists and the community with music videos, live streaming and recording. The studio is unlike most recording studios and was aesthetically designed with materials, furnishings and lighting to be a truly unique and inspirational space for artists/ musicians to create. We also developed a series called “Artist Sessions” which really gives emerging and touring artists a space and platform to create and communicate with their fans and the music community. These sessions have an interview component that allows the musicians to talk about anything that they want to convey to fans and the community and is followed by a performance of several songs that are recorded and filmed live. All of the output form the sessions is available to help the artists with their own marketing. The Stone Cottage Studios has also emerged into the hybrid live and Live Stream space, curating and producing music concerts and events in other venues/ locations where we bring the branded look and feel of the Stone Cottage to the grounds and stage in our outdoor summer Artist Series concerts to our other, intimate indoor spaces in Boulder. The whole team at the Cottage is excited for 2022 and the future, bringing music and creative video and audio content to the fans and community locally, nationally and globally. Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, we would start on Pearl Street and Boxcar Coffee followed by a local hike in Chautauqua Park. Lunch would bring us to any number of amazing restaurants in Boulder but we would probably land at Verde, a favorite taco spot. After hanging out along the Boulder Creek, we would set our sights on dinner and a show at the Boulder Theater

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Well, simply put this would be my parents. They provided and fostered a home and upbringing environment that supported encouraged creativity, confidence and striving for things you are passionate about. Music and photography was always in our home from vinyl spinning out music from the early and later folk inspired musicians and music always playing in the car from the cassette deck!
