We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamie McNamara and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamie, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I have always been a creative of some form. When I was working as a nurse during the pandemic I needed an outlet for my stress, which is when I really dove into my art! Painting and creating is my favorite way to calm my mind in this very chaotic and fast-paced world. I have fallen in love with creating erotic art and fostering discussions about sexual health through colorful imagery!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I enjoy creating colorful, whimsical, sexually explicit artwork! I studied Public Health with a large focus in sexual health, as well as Nursing. I think this background of sexual health and working with bodies is a major reason I enjoy creating erotic art. The sexual imagery sparks new conversations with others that one may not have previously considered discussing. I enjoy pushing boundaries and making people even slightly uncomfortable with my creations. I am a self-taught artist and I just enjoy the journey of the creative process! I am a very colorful artist. One reason being that I hate painting skin tones, so I don’t! I prefer picking colors in the moment when painting and seeing the contrasting result in the end. I also really enjoy exploring different kinks in my artwork. It is a fun way to expose people to less than vanilla play in the bedroom in a fun and whimsical way. My goal is for more people to see erotic art and for more erotic art to be displayed in your homes!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When my BFF comes to Colorado we grab some drinks, enjoy some good eats, explore the fun attractions, and hit the mountains! One of my favorite places to grab a margarita and tacos is Uno Mas Taqueria, they never disappoint! Then we might explore some cute shops along South Broadway. Once we have had our fill of the city, we are heading to the mountains! Let’s go to Idaho Springs for a hike up St. Marys Glacier before we go into town for some hot springs and a massage!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am a self- taught artist in Denver and would love to give a little love to Vanilla Kink & Hell or High Water Tiki Bar! Vanilla Kink was the first shop to sell my prints in the Denver community. Hell or High Water Tiki Bar has allowed me to display some of my phallic artwork for sale in their amazing bar! I love collaborating with local erotic businesses.
