Meet Jared Judge | Violinist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jared Judge and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jared, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued an artistic and creative career because I have always been deeply passionate about music and the way it can connect people and evoke powerful emotions. From a young age, I was drawn to the beauty and complexity of orchestral music, and I found immense joy in both playing and analyzing music. The ability to express myself through music and to bring joy and inspiration to others through my performances has always been a driving force in my life.
At Extreme Strings, we strive to push the boundaries of traditional string music, blending classical techniques with modern genres to create unique and captivating performances. This innovative approach allows me to continuously explore new creative horizons and share my love for music with diverse audiences. Pursuing a creative career in this field has been incredibly fulfilling, as it allows me to do what I love while making a positive impact on the lives of others through the universal language of music.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
At Extreme Strings, we push the boundaries of traditional string music by blending classical techniques with modern genres, creating unique and captivating performances. Our innovative approach sets us apart, making our music accessible and exciting.
Audiences are always so surprised when they hear songs they know and loved, performed at a high level on violin. It’s a shocking juxtaposition that people love!
I’m proud of our ability to reinvent well-known pieces, giving them a contemporary twist. Our performances are more than just music; they are experiences that evoke emotions and memories.
My journey to this point has been challenging but rewarding. It required continuous learning, building a strong network, embracing innovation, and staying resilient. Finding our unique voice took years of experimentation and collaboration.
Key lessons I’ve learned include the importance of authenticity and perseverance. Staying true to our vision and passion, even when facing obstacles, has been crucial to our success.
Extreme Strings is about more than music; it’s about creating memorable experiences and inspiring others through our art. We aim to bring the timeless beauty of string music to new heights and share it with the world in fresh and exciting ways.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting Denver, Colorado, I’d ensure they had an unforgettable week. We’d start with a relaxing stroll through the Denver Botanic Gardens, followed by a delicious dinner at Root Down. The next day, we’d explore the Denver Art Museum and visit the historic Union Station for lunch. Evenings would be filled with live music at Red Rocks, Mission Ballroom and of course a meal at Casa Bonita. We’d take a day trip to Rocky Mountain National Park for some hiking, followed by a tour of the Coors Brewery in Golden. Mid-week, we’d enjoy shopping and dining at Larimer Square and explore the quirky shops in the RiNo.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely! I am incredibly grateful for the support and mentorship I’ve received throughout my journey. First and foremost, I want to dedicate my shoutout to my family. Their unwavering support, encouragement, and belief in my passion for music have been instrumental in my development as an artist. I am so thankful for the patience and encouragement from my wife Emily. She’s always been there to cheer me on, attend my performances, and provide the emotional backing needed to pursue such a demanding career.
Additionally, I owe a great deal of gratitude to my music teachers and mentors who have guided me along the way. Their expertise, patience, and dedication have shaped my skills and inspired me to push the boundaries of my musical abilities. Specifically, I want to thank my elementary and middle school orchestra director, Nathan Thomas, who not only taught me music, but real world life lessons. I also want to recognize my current violin teacher, Tracy Silverman, founder of the Strum Bowing Groove Academy. His teaching has been instrumental (pun intended) in shaping the modern style of string playing Extreme Strings is known for.
