Meet Jennifer Lewis | Owner of Rocking Horse Therapy and Rehabilitation llc

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Lewis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jennifer, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Horses have always been a major part of my life. I always wanted to do something with horses as a child growing up. I took a different career path as i grew up, i still wanting to work with horses but wasn’t sure what I wanted to do where I could make a living.
I had read about the aquatred for horses , and thought that would be very valuable asset to this area. With our climate it makes it hard to keep a horse in shape, and to get ready for spring events.
It took me several years to brainstorm and come up with a plan. I lost my dad early summer of 2018. After that I thought life is too short.
So I took the idea and made it happened. It was truly the best decision I have made.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We have several different modalities that are used to rehab and condition the equine athlete. *above ground aquatred
Water is more resistant then air with that being said we can condition an athlete with more resistance
We can control the water level that is needed to rehabilitate condition a horse.
*equivibe platform and solarium lights
Here are a few benefits
Improves blood flow
Muscle recovery after a workout
Reduces lactic acid build up
Priefert horse walker
* great tool to help build cardiovascular health.
Pegasus class 4b laser
* non invasive treatment
*aids in wound healing
* increase blood flow
* refuces pain and inflammation
Each horse is evaluated and each horse has a program that I developed upon their needs. Every horses deserves the best care possible to make a comeback from an injury or to be given the edge to win
I am very proud of turning a dream on paper into a reality.
A businesses that I am proud of.
It took alot of blood sweat and tears. Sleepless night second guessing if I was making all the right designs. Questiong if people would really come to a small town in Wyoming to give me a chance to help them.
The fact that so many people put there trust and faith in me makes my heart happy. I treat their horses as if they were my own
It takes a village to make any business run. My village of family and friends is amazing they have stood behind every right or wrong choice I have made.
I learned in a hurry nothing ever goes smoothly when building any project. Some days were harder then others but I had to remember the big picture. Alot people questioned what I was thinking which made my determination even stronger.
There are some many daily challenges from the weather to getting all the horses done in a day to just daily chores.
Sometimes they are small challenges other days they are much biggger, but we always work through them learning something new from them.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ahhh a town of 300 people has some great things to show off especially if they have never been here. We are lucky to live in a beautiful area surrounded by mountains with a small abandoned mining town know to many as Kerwin. Meeteetse is only 35 mile from Cody Wy know as the rodeo capitol of the world. There is a great museum there along with a nightly rodeo in the summer.
There is no shortage of places to eat depending on what you like.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people that helped bring this dream a reality. It take an army to build a business from the ground up.
My Family and friends that stood by my side and kept encouraging me along the way when I thought I was crazy for putting all my eggs in one basket.
All of my clients I have had over the years who have become friends, I couldn’t keep doing this without them.
