We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenny West and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jenny, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
Philanthropy. Giving to our community, town, county, state, nation and globally, in a way that helps support non profits, families in need, struggling local small businesses and more has given me a drive to not just excel for success, but to excel so that we could give more to those in need. I own three businesses. One is my massage business, where i am one owner-operator of Jenny West, Certified Massage Therapist. As a massage therapist, i found a way to give to my community by facilitating a facebook page for local small businesses and community members in our rural area. This group has introduced community members to one another and we have a goal to actively support our small town businesses before we go spend at a big box store. Within this group, called The Elizabeth Networking Group, we also collect gifts to give to struggling families during the holidays, we’ve helped to get appliances repaired, fences set up, putting heat in a home that had no heat during the winter, giving to our teachers, thanking and praying for over law enforcement, and showing small but impactful random acts of kindness to service workers and each other. Thats just a small part of what we do. The second business, which i own along with my husband, is a security/risk mitigation company. Within this company, Seven Spears Security International, we have been able to network among peers and colleagues to spread awareness about human trafficking and slave trade. We’ve been involved in liberating children from their “owners” and providing medical, dental and mental health treatment as well as an education, and a life full of hope, where there would have been no hope. The third business i also own with my husband, Meb West. This business was set up with one goal in mind…to donate to those non profits that are having a difficult time spreading awareness and raising funds for their organizations. The name of this business is Send Me, and it is a custom and design apparel business. Through purchasing state of the art equipment, we have invested our money, time and care designing and selling shirts, sweatshirts and hats with a large portion of the proceeds going to one non profit per season. We thoughtfully and prayerfully reach out to non profits that resonate with us and so far we have donated to a group working tirelessly to give military veterans and first responders an alternative to suicide, we have donated to an organization that helps those women in Colorado that have been rescued out of being a sex trafficked victim and sets them up with healing and a future of success, and we’ve donated to our own Sheriff’s Foundation which gives funds to officers and family members of those officers that have been harmed in the line of duty.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My massage business, Jenny West CMT, and i am Nationally Board Certified. National Certification and Board Certification are not required in Colorado. Reaching and holding those certifications is expensive and it takes up free time completing the required continuing education credits. I believe that education keeps me relevant within my industry, and shows current and prospective clients that they can trust my skills to help with pain management and improved soft tissue health and wellness. I have a very comfortable table, i use high end products, and i keep my room, supplies and sheets/towels/blankets, etc clean and well cared for. Our security/risk mitigation business, i own with my husband Meb West. Seven Spears Security International is set apart because we know what we’re good at and we do that to the highest level of professionalism. My husband is extremely smart and thinks out of the box in ways that we are able to continue to improve and deliver quality products to our customers. We get the opportunity to teach several times a year to students that are breaking into the security industry. We teach how to write a Threat Assessment and Threat Management Plan as well as Operational Movement under stress with a high profile/high net worth client. We enjoy working this business together. My husband is 26 year retired military and holds a masters degree in security management, which also sets us apart within this industry. Our custom and designed apparel business, Send Me, is also veteran owned and operated by my husband and I. There are no minimum orders, and we offer unlimited colors, so if a business owner wants to get their logo on a tshirt, we can help them with their logo and we can put it on their choice of premium apparel! Often, small business owners that are just starting out don’t have a budget for uniforms, however we love working with them and seeing their smiles when they get their premium apparel back. In addition to custom designs, we also have a great website with many of our own designs available. We have holiday theme, small town theme, faith based, etc. We appreciate every single order and every single customer, and we offer customer service that you can’t find at large businesses.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When we have out of state friends and family come to visit, we love to take them to a few favorite spots. We take them to the Garden of the Gods, and we go take a walk around some of the amazing parks such as Barr Lake and Evergreen Lake. We also take them to walk downtown Denver and check out the shops and delicious food. One of our favorite things to do with visiting friends is to go into Denver, get hotel rooms at The Curtis Hotel and then check out all of the food and drink available! We love TAG in downtown Denver for their creative appetizers and entrees.. We’ve been going there for years and the food and drinks are the very best. We also take friends and family to Centro in Boulder for breakfast/brunch. Of course, we also take visiting friends and family to Crave in Castle Rock for extreme burgers.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Within the Elizabeth Networking Group there are many business owners and amazing community members that are extremely generous, giving of their time, money, resources, etc, so that we can lift up our neighbors. Together we get so much done to uplift one another. I believe the ENG deserves credit and recognition!
