Meet Jes Voight | Founder & Creative Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jes Voight and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jes, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have always admired and followed female entrepreneurs. It took years for me to recognize the reason I was slightly obsessing over them is because I wanted to be one. It then took a few more years to figure out what that business would be, what was I passionate enough about to take such a risk? Many conferences and GirlBoss Rallies later, I came to the maker space, it has always been part of me. I knew I had to find my way of contributing to this community. I used to think that you needed the perfect logo, website and head shot to launch your business. That is very much not the case. I am still working on articulating exactly what it is that I want Fruits of Our Labor to be, but we are closer than we have ever been. I am excited for what we have planned for 2021, especially the rough edges and imperfections.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Fruits of Our Labor is focused on delivering unexpected arts + culture. We do this through curated content, classes and retail. Sure, other brands do this, but we are excited to add our point of view to the mix. We have been on hiatus the second half of 2020 to to deal with some major life changes and losses. But, we are back and ramping up for Spring/Summer 2021 and cannot wait to share what’s next.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Wow, this is a challenge during COVID. I mostly stick to the mountains and home currently. But, I have an imagination and can pretend there isn’t a global pandemic! I’d tell them to wonder S.Broadway and RINO. Explore all the stores, bars and restaurants, meet all the random people and make sure you end your night roller skating at Tracks. Sometimes not having a plan is the best plan.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To the weird, wacky, curious and crafty. You continue to inspire and motivate us to make this a reality.
