We had the good fortune of connecting with Jess Feinerman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jess, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I was at a crossroad in my career where my current employer was relocating out of town and I had to decide if I was going to move with the organization or leave and do something different. I didn’t know what I wanted/would do if I stayed so I decided to start my own event planning company. I knew that I was really good at what I did, so I thought I had nothing to lose if I started my own company.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have my own event planning business. I have contracted with several outdoor companies as well as individuals who are looking to have events planned. I am excited to be working with an array of different folks on their needs. What I enjoy most about what I do is getting to see the concept or vision come to life and into the finished product.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Steamboat Springs is a pretty special place already. I would suggest they come in September when the temperatures are a little more predictable and the leaves are starting to turn from their vibrant greens to their bright yellows & oranges and onto the blaze of reds. We would start the day at Creekside Cafe for breakfast to fuel up and then we would head to the Steamboat Ski and Resort Area for either a bike ride or hike. If we were biking we would start up Pioneer Trail, head across Duster before getting onto Sunshine Trail. We will then come down Valley View. If we were feeling like we wanted to soak in the views a little more than I would suggest riding the gondola up to 9080′ and then we would hike out the Duster trail and do the Sunshine Trail that way. If we were feeling up for it we will hike down the mountain on the hiking trail or jump back on the gondola and take the scenic way down. For a post activity beer we would head downtown to Mountain Tap.
After all of the fun adventures I will make sure we hit up the Strawberry Hot Springs for a long soak.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout to all those that have supported and encouraged me throughout my career. I have had the opportunity to work with some amazing people and they have all contributed to my successes. There was a special mentor early in my career that saw something in me that I didn’t see in myself and I am grateful that she gave me an opportunity to get into events and logistics. I am also very grateful for my work friends, personal friends and family who supported me when I decided to go out on my own.
